In another thread, I saw a link that cbullock gave to an app called CodeDiver (http://www.jade.dti.ne.jp/~imazeki/palm/cDiv/index-e.html) . It seems to be an update to hrFontMapper, but for the NX. I had an NR and tried hrFontMapper a few times without good results. But this version seems solid so far.
In this thread, let's share uses, settings and tips for this app. I'll go first. I don't really care about the wallpapers, fonts, or jog assist, so I was mainly interested in making non-high-res+ apps fill the screen. So far, I've gotten this to work great with Handyshopper. With version 2.7.3 of HS, I'm using the following settings:
VirtualSilk
SizeChg - Force
StartedSize - Long
StopedSize - Long
SrartedPlugIn - Same
StopedPlugIn - Ret
I'm getting HS to fill the entire screen and the one-handed mode using the jog dial seems to work great. Keep in mind, I've only tested this out for about 5 minutes, so maybe something's messed up that I haven't found yet. If so, I'll post about it here. I tried it at first with StopedSize set to Norm, and it worked fine until I exited the app, when it froze, requiring a soft reset.
I'm also trying various settings for Ultrasoft Money; I can get the buttons to move to the bottom of the screen, but I can't get any more lines of data to display.

I use this for 3 apps so far. Two of the apps are already HiRes+ compliant, they just forget which position the silk area is in so I use CodeDiver to force the silk area down. These two are Iambic Mail and and CLIE Memo.
The other app is AsaiSoft's Bible reader (www.asaisoft.com). I use these settings to make it HiRes+:
SizeChg: Force
StartedSize: Long
StopedSize: Long
Plugin: settings left alone

I started using this app because it allows you to take JPEG's from your Clie and turn them into 16-bit color silkskins. It turns out real nice.
It also looks good if you take a 320x480 background that you use for YiShow or Zlauncher and made a matching silkskin. I have more details on my webpage. (http://nx.cbulock.com/16bitvg)
I have attached an example background to show what you can do, and the cool thing is if you want to make a silkskin that matches a background on your Clie, you never need a desktop to make the skins.
I can't wait to dive :D into this app. I see there is a startup macro feature, and I can imagine there is a lot you can do with that.

BTW, this app is shareware but is only avalible to purchase in Japan. I e-mailed the developer and he says that he must first make documention in English before sites like Handango will list it. I believe that it should be avalible to purchase soon. It will be $10.

Hey Rod! Do you notice any odd behavior when you're trying to maximize your silk screen (say, to add something . . . )
It seems like it takes forEVER for it to come up.
Or are you using something like NewPen or GraffitiAnywhere, so it doesn't matter?

I actually switched from LX because it would launch apps with the VG area showing, but I just switched back and used CD on all of these apps and it works great!! Also, launching from McPhling or using the hardware buttons when the current app was non-high-res+ would also bring the app up with the VG area showing, so this works for those as well.

BTW, that screenshot you posted looks amazing!!

It seems like it takes forEVER for it to come up. Yes, I did notice this. I thought it was frozen at first, but it just takes forever to display. And when it does display, none of the icons are showing, including those in the title bar and the Preferences icon at the bottom of the page. The other thing that messes up the display is bringing the McPhling list up. If you bring it up, then dismiss it, it looks like the screen doesn't properly refresh. I let Chris Antos know about this app; he said he made some changes to HS to allow it to be hacked like this. I also let him know about the 2 problems, so we'll see if a future version takes care of those. I still can't believe how much work he puts into a freeware app, adding function that he'll never be able to use for himself. As for me, for now, I'll just use the keyboard to enter new items, because I love having HS display full-screen.

Tip for you LauncherX users:
It looks like CodeDiver doesn't include in its dropdown list apps that reside on a Memory Stick unless you first create a "shortcut" for them. For example, I have DateBK5 loaded onto the Memory Stick in /PALM/Launcher and it shows up in LauncherX as the DateBK5 icon with a tiny Memory Stick icon in the lower left corner. THAT icon doesn't show up in CodeDiver. Dragging THAT icon to the Card gadget pops up a dialog letting you create a Shortcut. Now, it shows up in CodeDiver. One minor caveat is that you now have two icons. Just move the Memory Stick icon into a hidable tab and use the Shortcut.
The main problem that I have with Shortcuts is that when you remove the Memory Stick, they remain (unlike the other icons). I love the fact that when you remove a memory Stick, the icons for apps that LauncherX no longer "sees" just disappear. It would be nice if Shortcuts did likewise. Oh well.
CodeDiver is pretty cool. Time to explore more features!!

So, you could move your app to RAM, change the CodeDiver settings, then move the app back to the MS. You only have to do the moving once unless you later need to edit the settings for that app. This way, you don't have to mess around with the shortcut icons.

Rldunn, thanks! I had moved some of my apps off the MS to use them with Code Diver. Didn't realize I could move them back and it would still work!

Even better for me, it works with WebProV to give me full screen usage! Although the Icons on the top do corrupt the next lines below them, but I haven't played with it much yet. N
Now I'll never need that bloated POS NetFront (unless they can resolve it's huge usage issues)!

Does anybody have any idea when this app will be released with English Documentation???
I have successfully tried CodeDiver on ML4.1, LoanPro and MegaClock programs.
CodeDiver is a great product. I can use ML4.1's background image and CodeDiver's generated VG using the same background virtually on any Palm application.
Cheers!

Any new word as to when this app might be available for purchase in the U.S.? Any newly discovered uses of CD or applications which are compatible?

No, I haven't heard anything more, and I only have 16 days left on my trial. I'll try to send an email off to the author. I'm still using it only to make Handyshopper full-screen and to make the Clie apps and BugMe launch in full-screen when launched from LX.

The author informed me that he was just waiting on Handango to approve his documentation since they required English documentation for the app. But that was about a week ago last time I contacted him, so I'm not sure why it's not avalible yet.

Good news, I was just informed that you can now purchase Code Diver from Handango. (http://www.handango.com/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?siteId=1&jid=1DB6BDF1683EE6549F4D695EC5E61ABC&platformId=1&productType=2&catalog=0&sectionId=0&productId=59805)
This is a great app and is definiatly worth the $10 that is being charged for it.

Not sure if this qualifies as a new tip or not, since others have discussed this functionality, but last night I was messing around with the wallpaper stuff for the first time and figured out how to add a wallpaper to LX. This would be very useful for people who like LX but wish it could use a background picture, and end up using another launcher just to get backgrounds. Below is a screenshot.
For the settings, I just turned the Wallpaper setting on and 16-bit color set to ON. For Refresh, I currently have it set to Full. If it's set on Auto, I can switch between tabs a bit quicker, but the switch from white to the background takes longer; the opposite is true when Refresh is set to Full.

Anyone get MobileDB working in hires+ with Code Diver? I started with the same settings that worked fine for HandyShopper but I get these white blocks that are randomly placed around the screen covering up things in MobileDB

BTW, the only problem with the background method I described is that you have about a second lag every time you switched screens while it converted everything white to the background. This got to be too annoying for me, so I switched back to ZL for a real background.

Yea, your right, the Launcher that is using the background is ZLauncher with the skin set to transparent. For the Graffiti skin, I was using WPDiver, which comes with CodeDiver and is used to make Wallpapers and Graffiti skins. Yea and I was using Okey and a status skin that I modified.

Thanks for the feedback guys. How do one rename certain apps? Playing with Constructor or anything similar?

I migrated my nx70 to an nz90 and copied the backup-files back to the ram of my new device. Since then bible+ still works with the full-screen, but everytime i want to start codediver I get an fatal-abend.
Do I have to uninstall and reinstall or does codediver not work ont the nz90??
PS: Did anyone get dataviz-mail to show the mail-list in 320 x 480 mode using codediver?
