View Full Version : Some Basic functionality (Sound-Battery-M-Stick Icons,Keys,Capture) not working
Hi,
My UX50 was working great till now, but suddenly (after leaving it on the charger cradle overnight), some of the basic functionality is not working: like on tapping on Sound, Remaining Battery Power, or External Memory Stick icons, nothing happens. Also, I am unable to use the keypad to enter any data (When I press any button, I hear two key sounds). The Capture Button is also not working.
All applications are apparently working fine. The jog dial, back button and other three application launch buttons are fine too. Even the Clock is working.
I did install Agendus 7 beta yesterday, but I doubt if one application could have caused this.
I am not sure if there is any kind of setting that I could have inadvertently done to disable all this.......
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Try a soft reset. Of course when all else fails, hard reset that bad boy.

Is your blue key locked "on"? (pressed twice?) I've occasionally left this on and none of the control-button functions work, but I've never left it that way long enough to see if it prevents the things you mentioned from working.

hmm.. did you tried to re-digitize the screen?
pref->digitizer.

Bwahahaha...
Heheh, sorry, but couldn't resist.
Seriously though, it only takes one application to screw something up. If that's the only thing different, and you've tried the other previous suggestions, then this may be your culprit.
Thanks all of you.
Re-digitize did not help. It wasn't the blue key.
It was definitely some application messup, that got corrected when I did a hard reset. But surprisingly, it did not end at that:
Whenever I would sync it with my PC, it would return to the same state.
In order to isolate the issue/application, I changed the Conduit Custom setting on my PC to 'Do Nothing' for all Conduits. Even on the Clie's Hotsync->Options->Conduit Setup, I unchecked all conduits. I even deleted everything from the internal memory and Memory Stick. But still when I would Hot-sync, it would try to sync many of my previous applications that are installed on my PC - and as a result would again ruin it - but turning it back again to original state was simple with Hard-reset.
Eventually, I created a new user on my Palm-Desktop, and started again one by one to install all applications (followed by moving the data for the applications by manually moving the folders/files for applications from old user to the new user at the file-system level on the PC). Eventually I renamed the old user to something else, and the new user to my name.
Now it works fine with all applications, including Agendus 7 Beta. I was skeptical if this had anything to do with the 'next-day' calculation of Agendus 7 Beta overnight - but it was still fine this next morning.
If it happens again, and I can nail down the issue, I will update this post. But I would welcome any comments on why the hard-reset followed by the sync of the same user was messing it up.
Thanks.
