I am currently thinking about wether to get a SJ22 or a TJ25. Personally i would rather like to get the TJ25, because of OS5, the smaller size and the aluminum case. But i have heard the backlight on this one is really bad....So how bad is it really ;)

Some have had problems with it, some have not. I've never experienced a problem with my TJ25's backlight. Also, some have complained about the brightness as well. That's a personal preference thing. I have had all the brightest PDA's both Palm and Pocket PC, and the TJ is surely not the worst. It's "dimmer" than, say, the Palm Tungsten E or T3, but I can see the screen in any light, and have not been unsatisfied.
Just go test drive them at a Best Buy or a store like it first.

I've been using my TJ35 for a couple weeks now. I've got no problem so far. Backlight is fine, personally I don't think the brightness of the screen is a problem. Since I'm using PDA for PIM and reading eBooks, I don't need too bright screens. I just wonder why everybody needs that much bright screen... It's a PDA...

I used to use SJ30, and I was happy with its speed and everything. But say, I'm really happier with my TJ35. ;) I bet you won't regret with it (as long as you get not-dead-backlight one)

From what I've read the backlight problems are on the TJ35 and don't seem to extend to the TJ25.

Hi. That information makes me a little nervous. :(

I had a TJ25 for a week until I exchanged it to TJ35, and there was no problem with the display. (and brightness was the same as TJ35)

Also I looked at some Japanese Clie user forums and I've found no post about the dead-backlight problem. (Only TJ25 is available in Japan)

The TJ25 backlight is fine, only the TJ35 backlight goes out. Must be the audio jack circuitry.

OK, TJ25 here with the backlight problem after 4 weeks - pressing slightly on the back turns the backlight off - holdinng down the power button doesn't do anything - you have to turn the unit off and then hold so that the backlight comes on.

you should return it, and get it fixed by sony. Or get a warranty so that later down the line you wont lose it

Mine is working fine right now, but, yeah, I'm really warried that the back light is gonna be gone later...

Speaking of warranty, somebody know any good extra warranty services? I found http://www.vikingwarranty.com/ looks nice. but I don't know how it really works.

I hadn't hear of them, but this looks like a good deal. Much better than what BestBuy was offering. So yeah, you have me curious now as well. I guess I will just repeat the questions....

Anyone have experience with Wiking Warranty?

and also where did you purhcase yours, i have heard that different stores and states have bad batches, for instance those who bought online had bad models, in comparison to a few who got perfect ones rom places like BB and CC.
