I Have a NZ-90 and I'm thinking of switching to the UX-50.
I know the camera is not the best on the UX-50, but I need something more compact!! Recommendations Anybody??
Should I stick with the NZ-90 Or move on to the UX-50??

Hum... all these x vs y threads are quite controversal...
Pretty much the idea is what do you need. Each machine fits each person differently.
I find the UX50 to be better than the NZ90 for several reasons. The enlarged keyboard on the UX50 I think is one of the best parts. It's much faster than Graffiti (in my case), and it lights up in a cool orange glow! The camera is nothing special, but it's adequet, and personally, the NZ90 can only last about a dozen shots on battery, which I don't think is enough. The wireless also works great on the UX50, and the small screen crunches the pixels together, giving you cyrstal clear images.
Note that these are my personal opinions, they may or may not be true for everyone.
Good luck in your quest for the "better" PDA (or should I say PEO)

brwilcox,
I too had the same dilemma and settled on the UX50. I previously owned an NZ90 and then upgraded to the NX80V and then to the UX50. For an unknown reason, I just started craving an NZ90 all over again. I thought it might have been since I really did not give it a fair shot in my possession when I previously owned it.
So I went out on an NZ90 hunt and found one in a Circuit City store and tried it against my UX50, side-by-side and came to the conclusion that even though the camera is AMAZING on the NZ90, I would prefer the UX50 size to the NZ's size and thus would carry my UX50 with me more places. I figured if I did not carry the NZ90 with me EVERYWHERE, then what good would the camera be back at home or in the car, if I needed or wanted to take a shot of something. I also remembered that I own a 2.0 megapixel Sony Cybershot U20, which is very compact and is an excellent camera companion to my UX50 (and I would feel more comfortable carrying it with me to more places that I would an NZ90, like to a hockey game, for instance), for the times I would need a better than UX50 quality picture. Now, while I don't carry the U20 everywhere with me, I still have a camera on the UX50, if I should need/want to take a photo pf something, or if I knew I would want to take photos of things where I am going, I would bring the U20 and have the ability swap out the MS to view the pix on my UX50 and email them from the UX50 if need be.
So basically, the UX50's form-factor was the major thing about the comparison of both CLIE's that actually won me over. I feel that a PDA should be with you as much as possible (especially if you LIVE through yours, like I do) and it does you no good not being with you. I think you could probably get a UX50 and a U20 for nearly the same price as an NZ90 with the WiFi card addition, which the UX50 has built-in.
Just my $0.03 (cause it's a long one :))

OKay.... I want to move on to the UX-50 but now I have to sell
My NZ-90- Or wait untill there no longer carried by CompUSA.
I got mine 5 months ago with the 2 year warrenty, but I don't think I'll be able too get enough for it to pay for a new UX-50.
Anybody want to Trade??

I have both a NZ90 and a UX50. The digitizer is bad on my NZ, so I don't use it much right now. I love my UX but remember it is a trade off. You lose nearly as much as you gain. I will say though that as wonderful as the built in WiFi and landscape screen are it is the keyboard that would keep me from ever moving back. Of course, who knows what the NZ replacement might bring to the table?

I couldn't agree more with dimensiondvdrob!
I also switched from an NZ90 to a UX50. I agree that Protability was the biggest problem and really hardly ever got round to using that amazing camera..............why? because the damn clie was always somewhere in the car or on the desk or in the briefcase!! Just couldn't slip it in the shirt pocket!
Perhaps they will add a more portable high spec camera (like a T1) on the next generation PEO's. Hopefully battery life will not be a problem by then!

I guess I'll have to wait and hope someone would be interested in a trade. I guess I should list it in the Classifieds part of the board too. I know Now I have to have a UX-50!!

I loved having my NZ. The weight was a bit much at times. Like others have said, I also needed the pocketability.
I have not had issues with the camera on the NZ after using the updates, could take as many pictures with flash as I wanted it seemed.
Battery life was not as good as the UX, and I can't imagine using the NZ with a WiFi card draining it like crazy.
I miss my NZ a bit though. :)

Does anyone think that they will make smaller PEO with just as many functions? :) Or it is a limitation that they have yet to overcome? I really like the high end PEO but they are just too huge to be portable.

In the UX developer interview, they said they could've made it much smaller, but they chose to make it at this size because it should be more comfortable to use.
That's what they said.

In my opinion, only reason to get the NZ90 over the UX50 is for the 2MP digital camera. UX50 is a lot more worth it because of WiFI, lighter weight, better keyboard, and widescreen is useful too.

Oh I have not read the developer interview. :o
I guess if they made it too small then the keyboards on UX series would be difficult to use. Quite a dilemma for them and us cuz we want bigger screen but we dun wanna carry something bigger than our own palms. :p

Does anyone have a link to this interview? The comfort factor sounds like a good party line. There are smaller keyboards that people have proven to be very easy to use. Just look at 2-way pagers and the smaller blackberrys. Don't get me wrong. I'm a huge fan of Sony products and the UX in particular. There's quite a bit packed into the UX so I'm guessing it's just laws of physics at work here. Anybody willing to take their's apart?
