Haven't had enough time to play with it to give any opinions yet.

The "Contacts" to "Mapopolis" link is very cool! ;)

Lots of wide screen issues still need to be worked out on the UX50 but I like what I see so far. This should be a nice upgrade.

It does look like it has several nice new features but a word of warning from PDA24/7:
Had a nightmare with the Agendus 7.0 beta. No contacts could be displayed, if I tried to add one I got a soft reset. Could add datebook entries but they only showed the icon (no words) and then a spontaneous hard reset followed. Have just re-installed v6.14 and now I cannot see any contacts or datebook entries at all and if I touch anything with the stylus another soft reset! Perhaps it needs a little more work iambic:) Have never had this problem with any iambic beta before. Using a UX50 by the way... Thankfully I have BackUpMan!!!

Yes: finally, you can tag icons to meeting catagories, finally...
No: Ok, why isn't there any possibility anymore to display tiny fonts in the daily meeting schedule? Ok, now you can choose different fonts for contacts, but not for a 'general view' anymore. Why not?
My 7.0 nightmare:
Installed the beta, worked fine, but since I didn't see anything new right off hand decided to go back to 6.14. Installed 6.14, and Agendus would not recognize my appointments. They showed up in Datebook, but no Agendus. So, I uninstall hacked Agendus and reinstalled and it came back to life. I'm guess A7.0B put a bad preference in that 6.14 didn't recognize.

All of my contacts in the list view suddenly became "unnamed!" If I tap on one, everything is there including the right name, but when I close it, in the list it and all the others say "unnamed." I reinstalled 6.14 and will wait until a newer beta is released! If anyone had this happen and knows how to fix it, I'd be obliged.

I was able to duplicate that once or twice as well, but can't seem to do it anymore (don't know why). But I believe it was related to the "Contact preferences", under "storage format". Before I was able to set it to one of the options other than Agenda, and that was what would happen. But now it keeps defaulting back to Agendus so I don't have that result anymore.
I think that's right, but since I can't produce it anymore I could be wrong.

Okay, tried it again, and this time it did work. I changed the storage format to one of the other options, went back to contacts, and they were listed as unnamed. Went back into prefs, and both the Display Format and the Storage Format were blank. Selected Last, First and Agendus respectively, and the problem was solved.

Agendus STILL does NOT support ADPCM sound database on NX series. That's why we cant use wav alarms...
too bad...

You should.
I had the same thing happen (once), went and reset the prefs as described here and everything has been just fine since.
After I realized I still had CodeDiver settings I hadn't deleted, I removed them, did a soft reset, and Agendus is behaving very nicely on my UX50. I have used Code Diver to force the mail to widescreen as it is still 320 x 320.
well, reading all the problems I'm really glad I'm using DateBK5 which has all these probles sorted out for weeks :-) DateBK5 is the best app with best support (even ZZtechs aren't that much good!)

To fix the Unnamed thing... happened to me also and on the Agendus Beta Forum I found this fix... In Agendus get the menu to come up, then choose Options, Then preferences, in the upper right corner choose Contacts... then, and here is the fix... Contact Settings, choose Display Format... does not matter which one but pic one, then choose a Storage format... FIXED... :D

It's royally screwed up my Agendus/NX70V installation: now I get this error every time I do a hot sync:
"iambic® Agendus Extras conduit [build #741] started
Warning: Palm icon has unsupported format. Bitmap attributes flag = 44544. Bits per color = 0.
Warning: Palm icon has unsupported format. Bitmap attributes flag = 44544. Bits per color = 0.
Error occurred while loading icons from Palm.
Agendus Conduit synchronization failed"
I've tried replacing the .prc file with an earlier version, but I'm still getting the same error.
I recommend that users stay away from this one until it's stable!

..and now I'm getting full on fatal exceptions.
Boy, do I wish I'd stayed away from this installing this beta!

Beta is just that . . . beta!
If you are not willing to work with and around bugs, don't "do beta," period! Acquire patience to wait for the non-beta release.
Second, if you do decide to do beta, do (lot's of do's here :D ) a complete backup prior to loading the beta product, in case you need to "make things like they were" before you made the dumb mistake of "doing beta" in the first place! :D
P.S. I like the icons in the contacts list, cell phone, home, brief case! Eye candy is nice! ;)

You should be posting to the Agendus Beta Forum; to get the help you need... Remember it is a BETA... we are testing it... the hotsync problem is being worked on. I was under the impression it only affected those, like me, who also use Agendus for windows desktop program. They are working on a version of grade of that to fix the hotsync issue... hope this helps...

Agree! But Agendus is not exactly "publicly released beta." The fact it's not on their commercial website or PalmGear makes it less than "public." They should probably make folks click on an "I agree" to Ts & Cs that contain warnings and disclaimers before they can download.
The proliferation of devices, OSs, processors, card slots/drivers, etc. makes it cost prohibitive for a developer's product to "hit the street" stable across all devices. Imagine how much you would have to constantly spend to keep up with testing your application on all these platforms, not to mention the time.
Some developers ask for volunteers and work through emails to work out the beta bugs, but others like Agendus publish them where only the geeky tweakers go (forums)! :D Oops, that's where I am now! What does that make me?

Does not help you, but it has been fairly stable for me. There are some nice things added, but I'm still wishing for background coloring for appointments. I'm still getting used to the new expanded month view, which gives more of a forward looking view of the current and next month instead of the traditional calendar month view.

I think the Beta is inherently stable, on a virgin out of the box or untweaked machines.
I saw mostly people with a whole lot of things running in their backgrounds, codedivers, das, hacks, playing with their rams, whatever.
That is what is causing the problem mostly.
Well hope that they got it fix... but you should give em a break, after all they cant possibly predict all of our PDA setting combinations.
himitsu> so why I don't have any of these problems using DateBK5 and codediver, keyquick, DAs, playing with my flash etc etc ?
maybe because I don't use Agendus :-)

but why cant they release this version and only have problems with the NEW additions to the software? Version 6.14 was basically stable. why back to square one with version 7?
i am not a programmer, so i dont mean to seem ignorant, but i would like to know why this version of Agendus is sooooo unstable comapred to other beta releases i have tried. i dont think i have had so many problems with an Agendus release before.

Agendus is simply bad. Because they could not implement ADPCM (wav) sound alarms in more than a year.
Why ? I don't know. DateBk 5 can do it...

- Mapopolis support for mapping contacts' addresses via tap an hold menu in contact view, or map button on contact card (Mapopolis, available from www.mapopolis.com, is required in order to take advantage of this feature)
- SIP (software interface panel, aka virtual graffiti) support for Tungsten T3, Sony UX series, Tapwave Zodiac, Garmin 3600
- Widescreen 480x320 support in all views
- Dpad support for Treo 600
- 5way pad lookup capability in contact view
- Support for new PIM databases on Tungsten T3 and E handhelds (including birthday field)
- New "Expanded" month view
- Multiple icon databases support (***)
- Ordering of icons within the database
- Copy/Move of icons between databases
- Most Recently Used icon list
- Multiple Icon databases can be edited and used for meetings, todos, calls, etc. simultaneously
- Categories on icons
- Wallpaper now available in most views (previously restricted to Today view)
- Wallpaper cache persistent across soft resets
- Separate filters for each view
- Separate font options for each view (each view can have its own font size, style, etc.)
- Graphical font size selection control
- Preferences for default view on launch
- Preferences for setting the Default category for new Meetings and Contacts
- Preferences for setting the time bar gadget granularity
- Preference for setting the Default icon for each Datebook category

Anyone having a problem with the Mapopolis integration? I am excited about this feature but it doesn't seem to work for me right now. Agendus keeps including the zip along with the street address. Only the street address is recognized by Agendus so the zip throws it off.
wellsjs
11-23-2003, 07:35 PM
It's working flawlessly for me. You must be careful about the address format in your contacts. Mapopolis doesn't like, for instance, "st." or "dr.", but rather it should be "st" or "dr" and the same goes for "N Main St" and not "N. Main St."
But that should have nothing to do with your zip code problem, so I haven't a clue "what's up with that!"

Because this is a Beta. I think we all understand that you're a big fan of DateBK5. That's great. I'm a fan of Agendus, and that's great too.

Look, if you have a beef against iambic or about Agendus, that's fine. There are many places where posting on this is appropriate. This is not one of those places however. We're trying to discuss the beta of a program that we all either have chosen to use or are evaluating. Please stop contributing to the noise.

Not sure if you found out the answer to this already, but I just figured this one out myself. Click on the magnifier glass icon in each view's toolbar to pick your favorite font size.

New "builds" (359 for standard) are available at their beta forum, with quite a few "fixes" and a number of others identified that they claim they are working on! This build appears pretty stable on my device (NX80V).

Hi Guys, I am new to agendus. I downloaded the beta and installed on my clie and wow! I love the integration.
Now the main problem I had was with email....if I just wanna hotsync over my email from MS outlook, do I need a conduit.
I seem to be missing out something as emails are not synced over to my palm....addresses and rest works perfectly though....

will the contacts in agendus ever support nice small pictures like the built in contacts application.
ilkera
11-28-2003, 09:54 AM
no they won't support because Iambic never tries to support good features that Sony or other producers bring to Palm applications.
They did not support ADPCM alarms and they will not support pictures on contacts either.
