View Full Version : Virtual Graffiti, bad boy! Stay down!

How do you deal with the VG area that just won't "stay down"?

With the advent of Graffiti Anywhere (http://www.palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?prodID=45227), there is little need for the VG area to be open most of the time on the NR/NX. In fact, I only use it to enter special characters in the keyboard mode.

I understand that some apps don't support HiRes+, but for those that do, why can't the VG area just stay down until you press the arrow? It's annoying that if I minimize the VG area in one app and then go to my launcher, the area will pop up. And what's worse is that if minimize it again and go back to that same app, it will pop up again!

Please, someone, write a hack or silk plugin that will keep the Virtual Graffiti area minimized by default!

Are you using a 3rd party launcher? Some cause problems with the Graffiti area staying up or down... I've had no problems with the default launcher and Launcher X 1.02.

You could try using KeepWide, it remembers the position of the silkcreen for each application.

Where can I find KeepWide?  PalmGear and Handango don't seem to have it.

I, too, use the default launcher and LauncherX 1.02. Oh well, the KeepWide app seems to solve my problems! Thanks a million guys!

You can also use CodeDiver to do the same thing. As a bonus, you can use CodeDiver to allow OS4 programs to collapse the grafitti area :)

terret-- Could you possibly post a small tutorial on how to use CodeDiver? I can't read Japanese. Do you even read Japanese?

Does anyone know whether SilverScreen causes problems with the graffiti area staying up or down? Just today, after months of using Agendus 5.35, I cannot get the VG area to stay up. Its minimized when I launch Agendus, and even if I maximize it, it is minimized again when I exit and return to Agendus. I'm running Silver Screen, but even when I exit Silver, Agendus continues to behave this way. Its driving me crazy!

Have you done a soft reset?

That may help.

Yes, I did do a soft reset, but it didn't work.

This is kind of funny (but mostly annoying).... just last week someone posted to the boards with this problem and I posted a suggestion or 2 and said I was not experiencing the problem, and now I am!

Here is a past post that I copied on how to use CodeDiver:

CodeDiver does a lot of things, but I only use it to launch certain apps in high-res+ mode. For example, LX has a bug under OS5 so that Clie apps launch with the VG area showing. CodeDiver takes care of this problem. Just hit Add, select a specific app, select the button next to VirtualSilk, and change SizeChg to Set and change the Started Size to Long. Leave everything else as is and hit OK. I also use this same setting for BugMe, since depending on how BugMe was launched, it would sometimes launch with the VG area showing. For BugMe, I also have the StopedSize set to Long, but I'm not sure if that's needed or not. Works for me though. Finally, if you use Handyshopper, this app can make it high-res+, and it works great!! For HS, set SizeChg to Force, StartedSize to Long and StopedSize to Long. I also have SopedPlugin set to Same, but I'm not sure if that's needed. Leave everything else alone and hit OK. You now have a high-res+ HS!! One bug with this method is that if you launch HS and then want to bring the VG area back (to search for an item or to enter a new item), the screen looks a little screwy and it acts like it's frozen for a few seconds. It will eventually come back, but the bottom part of the screen won't look normal again until you go back to your launcher. It's harmless though, and I like having HS in full-screen mode so much that I just use my keyboard to enter things now and leave the VG area hidden.

Hope that helps.

Oh, and here is something on how to use it with Agendus:

(2) Agendus: When I open Agendus it now also automatically opens the "New" meeting, call event, contact and etc picker. And if I don't need to use it I can still view most of my schedule or just tap it away. My macro settings for Agendus are are X pos: 119 and Y pos 221
