I have an NX 80 with BT MS- looking at the Socket BT GPS receiver. Any known issues or problems to be aware of?
What are the differences in the Emtac and Socket GPS units?

I have the exact setup you describe. It works very well. No problems, in fact better Bluetooth hookup in comparision to my ipAQ 2215. I believe both units are the same. It's a great receiver with great satellite reception.

So this setup works really well? The Socket Bluetooth GPS and a NV80 (mine's NX73, but I guess it'd be the same) with a bluetooth MS?
Are you using Mapopolis? I tried installing mapopolis on my NV73V and noticed that it emits a high-pitched noise, so I'm concerned that audible updates won't work. Does it?
Basically, I'm also looking for the best GPS solution for my NX73, so any advice would be great. Thanks!

The Socket GPS devise works great! Excellent BT connectivity and it acquires SAT signals very fast.
As for software, I am working with Atlas, from GPSpilot.com. Using my own maps created from MS Streets and Trips. Having some issues with the app not recognizing my maps once the GPS receiver comes online, but I think it may be user error.
I tried DeLorme's Street Atlas 2004 Handheld but could not get the desktop app to run on XP, even after I did all of DeLorme's little "voodoo dances" in their trouble shooting section. I sent them a message to tech support 4 days ago and have heard zip, which I think sucks
So I would stay away from the DeLorme product.................

KKrays,
I have both the Mapopolis with the serial GPS and it works great!!! The Platinum maps are not great that come on the CD, but you can subscribe to the Navigator maps for one year for all of North America for $99. The bundle costs $199 from Mobile Planet and works great.
The other bundle you can get is the Delorme Earthmate which comes as either just a serial GPS, or a combination of a serial and Bluetooth unit. It can also be connected to your USB port of your notebook or desktop computer. Basically with Delorme you need to prep your maps in advance and save them to the hard drive, then transfer them to your Clie. It is a cludgy process, but their hardware works flawlessly with the Mapopolis software.
The Earthmate has a cradle which the small (the size of two boxes of matches) GPS unit plugs into for power. This cradle accepts regular batteries as well as the included rechargeable lithium ion battery. This allows you to take it out in the wilderness with you. It comes with a belt clip which attaches to your pants. Since it can be used with Bluetooth there are no wires, and it is quite rugged and solidly made.
I hope this information helps!!
