Plucker Experience? (and Avantgo problems)

Does anyone here use Plucker and/or the Plucker desktop? The whole thing seems pretty complicated and non intuitive to me, but I haven't really played around with it yet.

However, I'm getting frustrated with Avantgo for OS5. The sync takes forever, and my channels are regularly not synced properly because of timeouts and errors.

Is anyone else having problems with Avantgo? (I'm using it on a TJ35, and my primary channels are Hollywood.com for movie listings, Accuweather, and the Sporting News.)

For those who have switched to or tried Plucker, is it worth putting the time into this program? Once it's set up, will it sync as easily as Avantgo, regularly updating my channels?

I too had problems with Avango and also Mobipocket. I dumped Avantgo the last time it failed to sync. I just could not be bothered anymore. I have used it for years and hated to do it but it just did not function anymore.

Mobipocket has started giving my bad/dead links so I plan to dump that.

Now Plucker is great. I have installed the desktop and it works wonderfully. I would highly endorse it. I seem to remember that I had to download the desktop and palm app in two seperate pieces.

And you can't beat the price.

Interestingly, my experience with these two "systems" is exactly opposite.

AvantGo is relatively fast and reliable.

Plucker is incredibly slow and virtually unusable (the retrieval of web pages, not the displaying of them).

I too have used both, and agree that Avantgo is fast. Plucker with JPluck 2.0.2 is better though. More flexibility on downloads (what to get, when to get it), just as fast, better interface (multiple fonts, including anti-aliased ones), etc.

For you guys who have used both and went with Plucker I have a question.

How did you remove "AG Connect" from your Clie? I've tried with Filez and I can only find one AvantGo file left. I delete but then when I check Filez again the AvantGo file is still there.

I really want this stuff off my Clie.

Not sure; by memory I thought AG Connect was a program that you could actually see in the launcher and so delete through the standard delete function of the launcher. Honestly can't remember though. Is it read only?

Since I was using Crs-Launcher I had forgotten about the regular application delete.

That did the trick.
