ML 4.1....MegaSoft2000 is getting there

MegaSoft2000 has released MegaLauncher 4.1. They seem to be getting there... it's looking more and more promising. I guess, as earlier posts have mentioned, they were feeling the pressure from ZLauncher and the likes to get something out. They now seem to be putting their nose(s) to the grindstone. Maybe they will be putting updates oust as fast as ZL has been...yeah, right! It's looking better MegaSoft2000...keep it coming ...:)

I, for one, feel that MegaLauncher is the best launcher. No matter what other launcher I try, I don't think any launchers match ML's speed and with ML4, it looks REALLY good in 16-bit color.

I say, don't let other get ya down MegaSoft... You're doing a fantastic job!

Variety is what keeps the market strong. Minor bug fixes are welcome, but for my money, ML4 has a long way to go to meet the challenges of ZLauncher and YiShow in capability--especially at its price.

I just received an E Mail from MegaSoft 2000 indicating that 4.1 version of Megalauncher is available. Does anyone know if one can install over 4.0.1 or do you have to delete and install new version? Sent question to them but they have not answered yet. Thanks.

Installed ML4.1 and it still crashes my NR anytime I run "Refresh Applications" from the menu, even with all hacks, MSMount and NR Buttons disabled. I have reported this to them twice now, and have not received any response (I am a registered user).
The hi-density icons are very nice, but, unlike ZLauncher, they haven't supplied hi-density icons for the standard Palm apps. Maybe they will create an icon set for that. Hopefully they will make all their icon sets hi-density. They have also posted a hires skin on their web site. The skins and backimages are bit depth sensitive. That being the case, it would seem the bit depth should be automatically set by the skin or image selected, instead of user selectable. This was not a significant improvement over earlier v4 IMO.

I installed over previous v4 with no apparent problems. If you uninstall it, you will lose all your app categories.

PS: It's inadvisable holding your breath waiting for a reply from Megasoft. I'm still waiting for a reply to email I sent them a couple of weeks ago about bugs, one of which is still not fixed in this version.

I´m giving it a new try. This is the first version of ML 4.xx which I couldn´t get to crash my Clié, as of yet:D

Not that it really can compete with the features of ZL, but I must admit that there is still a sympathy with this app since I used to use ML 3.2.2 for quite a period.

There´s still way to go for megasoft2000 to catch up with ZL.

ML4.1 can't re-start after soft reset. palm go back default launcher after soft reset.

The support for hi-res icons is long overdue -- good move from Megasoft2000.

In 8-bit mode ML is still the fastest, most responsive, and least "refresh-mad" launcher out there. It suits people like me who don't like ANY waiting or even the slightest hint of lag-time on their PDAs.

In 16-bit mode, ZLauncher equals it in responsiveness, and then some. Once you add a 16-bit hi-res background, performance is similar to ZLauncher. In which case, ML loses out because it cannot come even close to ZLauncher's customisability.

For me, speed wins out. I am running ML in only 8-bit mode, but it sure as heck is the fastest launcher with hi-res icons out there. And performance, get this, is indistinguishable from ML 3.2.2. That alone makes ML 4.1 a contender.

Don't need it with Yishow! Does it automatically. I just gave ML4.1 a ten minute test drive. It's ctrl/alt/del and back to Yishow! :D

When you change icons in Megalauncher, are they permanently changed like in Silver Screen, that is, can you see the new icons outside of ML?

I do like SS but it's slow...I always keep it around to change plan or ugly icons!

No, they are not permanently changed. I tried this with 4.0.1, and it only changed in ML4.

It would be nice just to see AppIcon update there app to have Hi-Res Icons. But I'm going to try and make the icon from AppIcon to ML 4. I have made my own icons for ML using my daughters pictures, with the dev program they released. If I can port the AppIcons to ML I will be sure to post it ASAP!
