Previous recent updates have caused crashes, etc. based on other posts as of late.  Any information on this release?  How's it working for you?

I'm using ML 4.1 right now and love it. The only thing I would like is if they changed the function of the little "contrast" button by the power button to adjust brightness again like in ML 3.x. Maybe give you a choice in preferences for what that button does. Right now it turns the backlight off and on.

Thanks Tracy.  I'll try it out.

BTW - Is your MCSE in W2k or in WNT?  I am also an MCSE, but in WNT.

NT right now. I'm in classes to upgrade to W2K! woohoo

Does anyone know what the deal is about the skins for ML4.1?  Do the old skins (those that work with v3.2.2) work with v4.1?  I have a few really cool skins that I'd like to use with the new ML.  Is this possible?

Will it restart by tapping the icon again?  Or is it completely dead now?

yes restar by tapping icon. But other launcher (lx,zlauncher) automatically restarting after soft reset.
I find an applicaiton for autostart any app after soft reset. You can check this link

Skins for ML3 will NOT work with ML4. They won't even appear in the drop-down list of available skins.

Well that's a real drag!  Oh well.  All you excellent designers and programmers out there will just have to design great skins for ML4, I guess.

ZLauncher also does not restart after soft reset. This can be an advantage. Launcher X does restart after soft reset, but it trapped me in a reset loop that I had ot hard reset out of. Launcher X is no longer on my Clie. ML 3.22 would also restart after soft reset, but it was stable enough to not be a problem, in over a year of use.

Restarting after soft reset is fine as long as it isn't the launcher that is causing the crash. Even a warm reset wouldn't allow me to escape from the LX crash loop.

It seems a small price to pay to have to go to the icon and tap it to get ML4 back up, to avoid a reset loop / hard reset like that.  I think I'll stick with the couple of extra taps.

Does anyone know if the "AutoExec 1.17 (http://www.palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?sid=72183120030118052318&prodID=28905)" works well enough to avoid the same problem?  I haven't tried it out, but it seems to me that if my launcher caused the soft reset to begin with, I wouldn't want it restarting automatically, either by itself or with AutoExec.

ZL is still the default launcher after a soft reset on mine, so hitting the App button brings it back up. Not sure if that's what you're referring to.

And if you do get into a reset loop with LX, you don't have to do a hard reset. There's a much easier solution covered in the LX FAQ.

That app will work fine, as long as the app it is restarting isn't the app causing the crashes.

When I tap the app button, after a soft reset, it takes me to the default launcher, not ZLauncher on my NR.

I became aware of the other ways to get out of the LX reset loop after I had already done the hard reset. I suspect that most people, unless they were aware of those techniques ahead of time, would also hard reset to get out of it. Those options are not intuitive.

When I was testing ZL on my NR, I don't remember that happening; it sounds like a bug on yours. Which version are you using?

I agree about the LX fix being non-intuitive.

I'm using v2.21 build 030113, I know there is a v2.22beta out there, but I haven't tried it. It isn't a huge issue to me, although ZLauncher seems stable enough now that I would be comfortable with my Clie defaulting to it.

After a soft reset, Tealmaster comes up and then with the auto activate on, it stops at the Prefs screen. I then have to hit the home button to bring up ZL.
