Sorry guys not trying to beat a dead horse here but I have some questions about the newer processor and trying to get one. I have searched all over the web and this forum but still have some questions.

I bought a TG50 out of the blue today then came to this forum to see what people were talking about. I did some research and found that some have the newer processor. My biggest thing though is I can't figure out if there is any way to tell by the serial number. My first foud digits are 3063 which seems newer then most people have but I am running a PXA250, So does anyone know how or if there is a way to tell at the store (The serial number is outside the box) Did they reprint the box cause mine says PXA250 on the box so maybe the newer ones are different?

I can still exchange it at CompUSA for another so that's why I'm asking now. I know it's a little bit of annoying thread but I really would like to be running off the 255 if possible.....

Thanks for the info!

All the boxes say PXA250. If you bought it within basicly the last 6 months, it is a PXA255 and the flash ROM is locked. I advise you to get Zlauncher and a big memory stick so you dont fill up your memory, because you will need it. There actually isnt much of a diffirence between the two, except a barely perceptible speed increse.

But I bought it yesterday and according to Lightspeed it has a PXA250... Thats why it's not making any sense....

Also as a side question when you guys bought yours did the screen come covered? This is the only PDA I ever bought (And I've had quite a few) that had no plastic over teh screen and it was even a bit scuffed. Weird to me!

I have PXA255, but I think it is better to have FlashROM and the old PX250 than PX255 and the Flash locked.

I would recommend you to check whether your Flash ROM is accessible and if so, be happy with the old PXA250.
There is no much difference in comparision to the PX255.

If there would be possibility to unlock my flash, I would pay $100.
So I hope for some new model with higher RAM or accessible Flash.

(Please no other clie model recommendations. I want to stay with TG50 design)
