Hi all,
I have a Hauppauge USB WinTV box. I can record the video as an AVI, but ImageConverter seems to see the video as a single frame so that it creates a very short movie.
I've just upgraded all of the WinTV drivers and applications and this problem still persists.
If I run the AVI through TMPGEnc to create an MPEG, ImageConverter has no problems with the MPEG, but it just doesn't like the AVIs that come straight off of the TV tuner.
Any ideas?
Cheers,

I believe the Hauppage records interlaced MPEG2 format, which Image Converter chokes on. I have the same problem with a Hauppage PVR-250 board, and run the MPEG2's through VirtualDub first to Divx, and then to Image Converter.
Whoops, forgot to mention you need a special version of VirtualDub with the MPEG2 extensions. Tmpgenc is a fine choice also.
You could try seeing if the Hauppage software will capture in a VCD compliant format, which should work directly in Image Converter.

Hi.
When I upgraded the drivers and apps for WinTV I noticed that one of the dialogue boxes allowed me to choose video and audio codecs, options which weren't there before.
But, they have no effect whatsoever - hauppauge's website makes it fairly clear ..
"The Video Compression button will show you the different video compressor available on your system, but the WinTV USB cannot take advantage of these compressors. With the WinTV USB you will be capturing raw audio and video."
Another problem is that I'm running this on my laptop which has about 1.5GB of free space on the Windows partition .. enough for about 3 minutes of uncompressed video.
I guess I'll have to try it on my wife's PC instead.
