View Full Version : Considering TJ35... need your input/opinions
I am currently using a 665, which I really like, but am considering upgrading to the TJ35. Here are some of the questions/issues I have.
I use my 665 as an alarm clock and frequently set alarms for to-dos and appointments. Is the TJ35s internal speaker loud enough? (I can hear the 665 alarm even if I'm in the next room.)
Will the TJ35 work with the Belkin G700 keyboard?
Is it worth upgrading to Palm OS 5?
Is the front jog wheel easy to get used to?
Thank you for your input and any additional comments you may have.

Well, in order..
I find the Alarm to be plenty Loud enough - I sleep with earplugs at night as my dear wife has a snore like a bronchial donkey with asthma and It wakes me up just fine
Dont know about the KB
is it worth upgrading to OS5? well I think so, I'm sure sony no longer make ANY 4.1 Clie's any more, so it wont be supported much longer
The front jog wheel is fine, but it's a pain for games that need an up or down button..
and the screen isn't as dim as people are making out, it's just not overbright like the Palm E. I was reading a book last night in bed on my TJ and went to turn the light down as it was a little bright for me (dark room) and i found it was on the lowest setting already, so it's bright enough for me!
I've had 3 Clie's now and this one feels like its the best built one of all of them, not that light for its size, but satisfyingly solid.

I love mine.
I have had many palms and pocketpcs and I like this clie the best. My main concern was switching to memory stick, but its not that bad.
The last palm I had was palm os3, so this is great for me. I did have a tungsten E for about a week and didnt really like it. The clie feels a lot more solid to me and I like it's looks better aswell.
Thanks. I believe I'll go to Circuit City today!

I ordered mine Sunday and it came yesterday. It was in regular box, US model and works flawless. Total Cost was 219.00 which includes 2nd day air shipping. After rebate my cost will be about 185.00 ... and thats for a TJ35.
Good Luck

I want to know if i can HotSync my S320 info from my PC into the TJ35.

Nice comment input, Slvr.
I was opting for the TG50 at one point but the Keyboard keys were just to awkward for me. I have a 2-way pager with the mini-me sized keys, and they are a pain to "thumb in" my data.
i am more proficient in Graffiti....
Heck, i can't write on paper anymore, because i Graffitti so much!!!!
Thanks to all for your input and to Dave for the CompuPlus tip but alas... I had already been to Circuit City. $249 with a $30 mail in rebate and I can return it in 30 days if I don't like it.
First impressions are good. I like it but have had several fatal exceptions though they are more than likely software related rather than hardware. I do miss the polyphonic sounds (alarms) on my 665 but with the speed and great screen of the TJ35 I'll get use to midi alarms... again. My biggest hope is that I do not have the backlight problems that others are having, time will tell.
Those of you who have had the TJ35 for a while, what kind of battery life are you getting?
Thanks again.

Mine's Pretty good, But not quite as good as the SJ33 I had for a week or two before it went funky.. The SJ33 played mp3's for longer before the battery started to run down, but not by much.
Overall it's pretty decent, but still not as good as my old S360, but that was never playing mp3's and had a green Electroluminescent Back light, no colour screen to sap power.

chekc compuplus now they lowered the price yet again
Alas... poor TJ35, was returned this morning. To many fatal exceptions, backlight started acting funny and the grafitti area and Decuma did not always recognize input.
Glad I bought it locally with a 30 day no questions asked refund policy.
Live and learn... :-)
Thanks everyone!
