The nz90 might be large and heavy, and the quality of the 2mp camera may not be the best, but you must consider the fact that bluetooth is built in, so that free up the MS slot and there is a user replacable battery so sony can make a extended life battery and the camera is the best for any PDA on the market (that includes pocket pc) even though there's no manual focus and no optical room, but it has a flash plus it runs the palm OS, has a WiFi slot (please release driver info sony), hires adjustable screen, keyboard and great software package (that picsel veiwer is awesome) Mp3, video player, Video recorder with audio (thanks to the camera) I fell that the price is high, but sony could have asked for more like $1,000 and the nz90 is worth it because it it the most entertainment directed pda sony or any company as ever made and it is just going to get better (and more $) all thanks to the best pda to date, the NZ90

The price of $800 isn't that bad at all. I think it's priced fairly cheap.
the iPAQ H5455 is the best pda...

Far from the best PDA....at least for my tastes. Sorry. Great innovations and top of the line for PDA features, but best? No way....Many improvements could be made.

If you want pure functions, and don't really care about size, the nx is the best, but "best" has many categories, and overall, i wouldn't consider the NZ90 the beset.

Hey, let's tell fat jokes!!!!
Phil Ng - Wow another clever and insightful thought comparing the nz to a brick. I can't believe some1 made such an astute observation. maybe you should take your great insight and start yet anohter thread saying oh my god the nz is a brick. I know a lot of other members would appreicate it and it would definatly be a creative step forward in the evolution of this website. Please share more at anytime seeing as we just can't get enough or maybe you can just acknowledge that you have brick envy and shutup. Nite.
PS- Have fun w/ your real live brick

Go down the road until you see the stables, and ask for Omar." So, the man walks down the street and gets to Omar. Attached to the wall of the stables is a sign that say "Painless Camel Castration". The man thinks that that sounds like a great idea. So, as he's talking to Omar, Omar takes out a Sony NZ90. And then reaches into his tool box and grabs another NZ90. Carefully, he positions one NZ90 on one side of the scrotum, then slams the Clies together, crushing the camels testicles. Understandably, the camel takes off bellowing down the street. "Hey," says the man "I thought you said it was painless." To which Omar replies, "It is ... unless I get my thumbs in the way."
NZ90 Use #236 - Camel castration.

I am seriously considering of getting NZ on Feb 20th (the release date in Singapore). I had make comparison on the T665 which i have now and the size is slightly wider and slightly taller and 10mm thicker. The weight is about twice of T665. But the features of NZ is totally different and for my business applicaiton, it might be just what I needed. If we were to look for a PIM PDA, T665 might just do the job very nicely. With NZ, I can that a snap of a furniture in the factory, add some voice memo and written memo and sent it to my floor manager instantly in the retail outlet 2000 miles away via bluetooth Sonyericsson T68i with GPRS connection. My floor manager upon receiving it with his own NZ could edit the picture and tell me what his customers desire.
I think NZ is more for business application where with the right condition such as GPRS connection, it would provide critical information instantly. Bluetooth make the connection with bluetooth enable phone much less hassle.
I am seriously of thinking providing all my sales rep with NZ so that critical information on products and clients can be sent to HQ instanly. With current competition is so keen, any weapons to clinch a deal is always welcome.

Folks please do remember that the NZ like the beloved NX, will not have wide support for the CF slot. But it will have support for a smart card! Yeah, we REALLY need that!!!

Yes, but the paper becomes really screwed up after twisting it around several times.:D

Yep Alistar
That square area below the keyboard is a "swipe" for a smart card. Of course it is reputed that SONY owns the smart card system used in Japan. To the best of my understanding, the smart card is used like a debit card for subway rides, purchases, etc. You then could fill it up and monitor usage from your NZ. Of course they would bend over backwards to incorporate a smart reader in the NZ, but not give two poops about wide support on their CF slot so we can use two memory cards instead of just one.
Furthermore adding insult to injury, still insist on having a paltry 11 MB of RAM on the Cadillac of PDA's
Ironically if they opened up the CF, they would greatly soften the 11MB constriction. Because one could use the CF as a form of additional RAM.
Yep SONY builds what they want and the customer, particularly the American and European customer is cannon fodder!

Thanks for the smart card info. I thought that it was something new for North America here becuase I had previously only heard it referred to as the Felica reader. And I don't see why they need to disable it in the NA version. It is not doing any harm sitting there and what if we go to Japan we might want to use it.

The best PDA to date is the Tungsten | T !!
I love my T|T

Your Tungsten may be the best to date, but starting the 20th (or there abouts) the NZ will be the best on the block.:D
Notice that I did not say that the value is the best (it is a bit expensive), I mean that it is simply the best thing out there. I dare anyone to prove me wrong.
P.S. Arguments not accepted are things involving price and buying more than one instrument.

Eh - Even I have a hard time with this one. Anybody who's read a single one of my posts in here knows that I am VERY pro-NZ, but I'd have a hard time saying it's the best.
Now a better question would be: Is it the best one for ME?
Oh yeah - bigtime.
It's a great machine and there's about a .1 chance that I'll end up not liking it. I won't go into the if's, and's or why's again. It's gonna be very cool for me.
Will it topple the market and have every PDA user on the planet lined up and uncontrollably salivating for the mere chance of seeing one or (gasp) touching one?
Nah.
But it WILL be the best one for me. :D
On this thread, I respectfully take the middle ground. I'm not going to risk civil unrest with a "my PDA's better than your PDA" argument. We've had enough of that crap; and I've fed that flame myself.
TB, if you like your TT, then I love it. You'll just never find one in my hand ;)

How about the best PALM PDA to date?
After going through 5 T|T's I finally got one with no dust, no bad pixels, no HWR registration problems...Okay, it was new.
The form factor was nice (although I wanted a bigger screen: in the same package...yeah, right!) But what I really wanted was a PDA with:
a transflective screen
MP3 player
Wifi & Bluetooth (or capability)
built-in camera (my previous Clie spoiled me)
built-in keyboard (if the T|T had one like the Sharp Zaurus, I might not be here)
So I returned it to await MY best PDA...which I hope is the NZ

I don't think anyone can fairly say what the best PDA is, it is such a subjective thing. Even if you create a criteria for judging PDA's you still will end up with a winner that probably won't satisfy everyone as the being the best PDA.

I would like to say that I ordered my Nz-90 a few days ago. Found this site yesterday. Anyways I also think its the best PDA for me. I do a lot of webdesign and I like taking small snapshots of things everywhere! While I'm listening to my Mp3's. But in the near future I would like to see these few things built into the next sony pda which shouldnt be more than 2 months from now hehehe:
I would like a...
-Swiss Army Knife on the side or one that connects via media stick.
-Two 12" Sony Xplode subwoofers.
-Built in Cell Phone.
-1 Terabyte Harddrive
-Nuclear reactor smart nuclear battery that tells you how many years you have left, just like on the nz that tells you how many minutes you have left.
-A dedicated connection to the Cliesource Forum (For Help and Suggestions)
-Color Printer on the back.
-Titanium plating so I wouldnt have to buy a case.
-Water proofing case so I can use my clie when I got swimming or scubba diving.
-Small Clie Parachute for when I drop it Parachuting...Might need 2 Parachutes just in case the first one fails! Never can be too careful.
-Small Electric Taizer to defend myself from the palm and hp palm people who want to touch my clie. but cant have it cause its MINE.
-Spoon
-Fork
-Steak Knife
-Steak TV Dinner
-And for the last thing I want a smiley face on the back with my name on it. :)
Well thats about all for now.
P.S. Just kidding lol, and I cant wait till i get my clie, its my first PDA!

Peter,
Don't give up too soon. I think we've found your PDA:
"If you are a gadget freak who wants a Swiss Army knife of a PDA, the NZ90/G should still rank high on your priority list..."

I think an air bag would be better than a parachute, this may protect it better from falls.
Also an fm radio flashlight integrated into the unit might be nice for emergency use, and how about a program that blinks flashing orange light so you can prop the NZ up on the side of the road in case your car breaks down. Maybe even pack a military MRI food pack into the unfuntional CF slot for long hiking trips?

Yeah I like the Orange Light Idea. also after a phone is intergrated it would be nice to add a 911 button in red.
