Although they may be tougher markets than Japan, I think they are definetely important to Sony. If I'm not mistaken, Sony itself has a 98% brand recognition, which is unbelievable in a business market (that's why they have the Sony Store, they just have that much of a following)

We buy their stuff too, but it is the Japanese market that DRIVES them and their development path. So... we matter... to their pocket-book.
As it is, rarely does a completely new device, make its debut *here*. In fact many devices *never* make it to production over here for one reason or another. And it's not as though there will ever be an adsence of a market over here for them (because the Japanese stuff is SOOOOO cool!). I think we do matter, it's just that I don't think we are as crucial to the development process as we would like to be. It's hard to be even note-worthy when the products we get have already been triied, tested and slated for the trash bin, sometimes years in advance.

Has nothing to do with thi topic, but reactor18 I like your quote. Because it's exactly the way it is 50 years ago in Germany, 20 years ago in Russian and today in the USA
