Micro-Drive :
- will eat the battery very quickly
- read-only !

You can use the wl100 and wl110 for wifi.

Microdrive uses up battery power, but not as much as everyone thinks. Also, not just read, they are read and write capable with no problems. Check this forum out, there are many of us (and many threads on this) that are using 340mb, 1gig and even the 2.2 gig cards with no problems whatsoever for quite some time. Have used them with my old NX70v, currently using it with my NX80v and my wife with her NX73v...no problems.

Microdrives are NOT read only and how quickly they "eat" the battery depends on how long you need the Clié to run. I get 2.5 hours MP3 playback before I get bored and there's at least 40-35% battery left then which without the microdrive equates to a reasonable operating period.

I get fed up of stating this so I guess I'll have to put the info in my sig... :( here goes ...

OK, it's all in the sig. HTH the OP.

Speaking from personal experience(Using a MicroDrive the first day) they are great for MP3's. I was listening to music for 2 hours, screen closed and the next time I checked the power was 73%. For video you better get a Memory Stick. I could only watch movies for 1 to an hour and a half. For storage it is also great, I had almost infinite apps stored on the MicroDrive and I had ZLauncher move them there to they would be on my desktop although they were not on my NX70. I returned it though, so I can try out a regular CF and would have knowledge of both.

I get over 4 hours with the screen closed using a 1GB CF playing mp3s...and had 70% left.

The next day I used a 1GB IBM Microdrive and eneded up with 40%...

IMO thats a big difference.

For anyone interested a while back I did a side by side comparison of several MS cards: http://www.cliesource.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=12802&highlight=test

Well you are right I am not a micro-drive direct user, only a witness. So, ok, micro-drives are not read only anymore. My mistake. But they definitively use much more power than CF cards ! That you are happy with the play time you have is nice, but 2.5 hrs of mp3 on my old NX70V+CF, screen off, and I still have 70-80% of power...
And if you are fed up of stating this, why do you stop doing it ;)

There is no doubt that that using a CF will use less power, that's not in dispute: the misinformation that microdrives are read only is. And you're only a witness if you are present when someone tests, otherwise you're indulging in hearsay. ;)

But now all I have to do is post "see below". ;)
