View Full Version : Launcher X: Ever going to be any updates?!

Does anyone have any idea on what is doing on with Launcher X? Will there ever be updates or the features that were promised be included, or should I give up home and switch to another launcher?

So very frustrating....

Just get ZLauncher :)
It's updated almost every week!

I guess it all depends on what you want. If there is another launcher out there that is drawing you to it, then try it out.

I came from the "Launch 'em", "Launcher III" camp, so the current incarnation of LauncherX more than satisfies my needs. With its seamless handling of Memory Sticks, I am more than satisfied. I have tried all the others that are out there for the NX70V, and I continually come back to LauncherX. You or others may completely disagree, but that's OK. That's why there are multiple choices out there.

I do agree that compared to other launchers like ZLauncher, new features and bug fixes for are basically at a stand still. Fortunatly, for me anyway, the current release is very stable, very feature-rich, and more than satisfies me.

Sitting and waiting patiently...

Thanks, Jbarr. I am more than satified as well, it is only a launcher afterall. I was just hoping that by now some of the features that had been mentioned would have been implemented. What currently exists is quite good, and quite fast. I will wait patiently as well.

It's updated almost every week! Yup, that's what I did! I also purchased LX, but ZL kicks butt. About LX, I sometimes wonder if the promised (but yet undelivered) features were just a scam to get people (like me) to register: take the money and run!

Benc is an awesome programmer, but he's not nearly so good a businessman.....

I ditched LX and moved to ZLauncher.

When I finally recieved an email response to a LauncherX bug I reported, I was told not to look for updates until sometime around June, possibly later. I'm a ZLauncher user now...

I can see how one could wonder this...but I wouldn't trust too much on this interpretation of the LX situation. It is often true that a lack of knowledge about a situation generates a lot of speculation...and that one, or parts of several speculations might be right...but most speculations end up being off the mark.

Who knows what the deal is?...I don't. IMHO it doesn't do much good to speculate. That is, if the purpose of speculation is to bring about resolution of the situation. You end up with a mess of speculations and a bunch of wasted time. Now if it was a mess of catfish, at least you could have a good dinner!

But if the purpose of speculation is to degrade a product you don't like (because it isn't being serviced the way you want...or even the way most people think it should be) and promote another one you do like, then I guess there is some use in speculation...if that is one's goal. I think it might be better to use the product that is working for you, that serves you well, and if something changes to make you look back at LX and see if it measures up again, so be it.

I agree that Bozidar is not so great a salesman. I have emailed ZZTechs numerous times and always gotten a reply within a day. My emails about LauncherX were basically ignored, my decision was easy to make after that. The price difference as well turned me off. Happy ZLauncher user here.

Isn't promising upgrades and new features and then not delivering on those promises just about the same as taking the money and running? I don't doubt Mr. Benc is still working on this, but I think he promised more than he could deliver. In some jurisdictions, that's breach of contract.

No updates till June??!!?? There's also such a thing as ripping of a customer by taking so much time to release a product that it's obsolete by the time the user gets it.

Very sad situation because I really really like LX.

Let's see . . . nine months between initial Launcher X announcement and actual release of the software (without all the promised functions).

Seven months later (June) the first major update.

A direct quote from the Launcher X website, in the Active Skins section:

"In the meantime watch this space and prepare yourselves for some mind-blowing concepts in the near future!" These guys have a way different definition of "near future" than I do.

I'm sorry I got sucked into "cross grading" to Launcher X. Wonder if they'd refund my money since they have not delivered on what was promised?

Thank god for Zlauncher and the responsive guys at ZZtech.

I bought LX and never receive the reg code; no reply whatsoever to my several email inquiries. I'm surprised by their business conduct - took your money and ignored you. I finally did a charge back. Will never buy from them again.

last I heard, everyone still had a right to state their opinions, regardless of who likes or dislikes them. Gramma's included. By the way, my gramma used to say "if you don't like what I have to say, don't listen".

In any case, that saying refers more to making personal statements about someone. Nothing to do with a business or the practices of it. If a business is doing a poor job, there is certainly nothing wrong with pointing it out!!

And why doesn't Mr. "unregistered" sign in? One should be confident enough in what he/she is saying to identify oneself.

ok I say something nice::)

I love LX, especially with the Lubak skin with the HIRES+ (left or right side) tabs!!! Now, you ZLauncher and Megalauncher fans, tell me where is THAT feature in your launcher???
Ok, I cannot load BGpics and all these gags, but hey do I need it? No, for me LX is a perfect tool which can always be improved of course...

cheers Nicolas

I certainly like to know both the good and bad experiences that people have had so I can make educated decisions. If people only said nice things, then how would I differentiate the good apps/developers/products/etc. from the bad?

Zlauncher is working on left and right side tabs, and considering updates are approximately 10-15 days apart, it should be soon.

I agree. They need to spend some time here and at other sites to get better informed.

I said they were working on implementing it. I didn't say it was in there yet. I asked the zztech folks if they were going to have this in a future update, and they said they were working on it.

Hate to:

1. Quote myself

2. Bring up a very dead thread, and

3. Mention LX,

But June's almost over, and no update (or word about one yet.)

Agreed. I dumped LX and have completed deleted in favor of ZLauncher. So many more features, much better looking, does EVERYTHING LX did and MUCH more. For $12, it was a no-brainer. I'm not sure what happened to LX, but its follow-on appeal to LIII seems to be waining...
