What is the best way you’ve found to get relatively small file size with good video and sound (stereo) on Kinoma Producer?
List method and settings please.

find Kinoma less versatile than MQV. Generaly Kinoma files are larger and cannot stretch fullscreen unless encoded so. Plus, it doen't play on PC. Reasons why I'm still using IC and movieplayer.

dach97,
Your reasons are excellent. Unfortunately IC doesn't sync the movie and the sound. I've read all the post on Virtual dub, TMPGnc, etc. I've put them on my desk-top and have no idea of what I'm supposed to do with them. Especially, the split file stuff. I have ripped files from Smart Ripper. I need info like pull up etc next, load vob file and use these setting (click here for settings details). I don't mind buying software, but I've already purchased a package that gave my DVDx, but it takes 10 - 13 hours to convert and I still need to figure out how to split properly if I don't use Kinoma.
Thanks, Bev.

dvdx is freeware, no...?? You should do some exploring in dvdx. There is a way to output number splits.

In Kinoma, I'm not sure you can split clips. If I remember correctly, it only accept dumps of existing file and convert the clips into cinepak video files with multiple sound output.

Either way, both Kinoma and IC are great start of enable us to watch video. I'm watch many of my dvd backups on my clie:)

also, if you don't have enough memory to handle video, look into CF cards. I'm very happy with it even though there is an issue with the time bar freezing when jumping video. If it freezes, just pop the CF card out, wait a second, and re-insert the card. (Don't jump again.)

I'm using the CF card. I've found a great DivX program called Super DVD ripper. Now my problem is the file freezing completely on my CF or memory stick when I try IC. I don't have 1.1 yet. I don't know if that is part of the problem. It works fine w/ Kinoma. My primary problem with my CF IC video files was that I can't close out of them or stop them. I have to soft reset. Now that I've joined this group, I'll be watching my DVDs on my Clie. I just have to find the settings and programs that work for me.
