Just encountered a new problem using MSImport. Have been using this since Day 1 on my NX-70 to transport files between my work PC and home PC, opening up directories on the MS in Windows Explorer and dragging and dropping files into and out of folders on my PC's. Never had a problem, until ...

This weekend, when I opened up a folder on home PC (running Windows XP Home) and on the MS and starting MSImport, then selected multiple files to in the MSfolder (using the shift-click technique), my system crashed with a BSOD and physical memory dump. The memory dump page said there was a problem with fastfat (which I believe allows Windows NTFS to handle FAT32 drives (which must be what the MS is considered).

Interestingly, when I tried this again, but only copying one file at a time, there was no problem. I could only repeat the crash when selecting multiple files in the MS window.

When I got back to work today, I tried the same thing on my office PC (running Windows 2000), and the same crash occurred.

Last week, I installed the SYSUPDATEPACKNX_US.PRC file from the Sony support site, and I suspect that may be the problem as I had no problems prior to then.

Anyone had similar problems? Also, anyone know how to correct this problem or revert the NX-70 back to the pre-update state?

I've experienced virtually the same thing when moving multiple MP3 to the NX, except the NX hangs and I have to reset it. I've had this problem since before the SYSUPDATEPACKNX_US intall.

I may be experiencing a variant of your situation because I'm using a PCI USB2.0 card with a charge/sync cable, not a motherboard-provided USB port (?).

Anyone else?

Hmm, the system update pack has been blamed for earthquakes too:)!

The memory stick is too small for FAT32, it has to be at least 512MB in size. It's probably just FAT or FAT12.

Since the update and I also run Win XP, moving upwards of 124MB back and forth have been flawless. Now I had some trouble with my NR70, but so far no problem with the NX70V. It also runs through a Belkin 4 port USB 1.0 hub.

Do you drag&drop right to the MS "drive" or do you do it all through MSExport?

I've been copying right to the MS drive using Explorer. The problem seems to be limited to using Explorer and doing a multiple file selection (the crash actually happens on both PC's before I do the drag&drop -- it happens as soon as I select the multiple files in the MS drive window.

hm - I get the crash/hang when I select multiple files in Windoze and then try to copy/paste to MS drive. I think I got the same result when doing a bulk delete on the MS like you described too.

I'm running Windows98 SE, btw, so it seems to be cross-"platform".

A FAT32 can be used vor any size. In fact Windows allows you to format your MS Fat32. Problem is The Clie wont be able to read it.

There's a workaround: If you use sync software like "filesync" - in that case windows considers any transaction as single file transaction whithout the inconvenience of actually copying every single file.
