MPG. troubles ..... Please help

I have problem to get my UX recognise MPG movies :(
I saved the 250MB file to the proper location on mem stick
renamed the file to MOV00007.MPG but when I open the movie player
and check for MPEG files the movie isn't there ... :(
Any idea why ?
If I rename the file to MOV00007.MQV I can find/play the movie
but there is ??? in description and ?? in size info.
(BTW is there way to change that - re name movie ...)

I like to avoid the lengthy process of converting MPEG to MQV

Hi Lifeisfun

Just a thought but have you put the MPG file in the correct directory? It is NOT the same directory for the MQV files and just in case you haven't, please create the following (include the capital letters) from the root directory:

MSSONY\MOML0001\

your MPG file should reside in this. Oh and I assume you are referring to Mpeg1 files?

Unfortunately I think you're stuck with the nomenclature Sony provides. There is a type of work around for the audio player but alas not for the video player and Mpeg files.
