This may be a dumb question, but wheres the synch button on your desktop?

How do your start the synch proccess from your desktop, rather than the handheld?

I tried to find too... and I couldn't find.
Unless I missed something, there's no way to start the synch process from the desktop.
Only from the handheld!

I think this is the way it's always been with Palms -- you start it from the device or the cradle. Since there's no sync button on the cradle (and no sync connector) you have to start it from the device.

The UX series of Clié seems unique among Palm devices - no hotsync button. You have to press the hotsync icon in the Hotsync application on the UX to start it.

Anybody else have a better idea?

I don't understand why you'd want to do this. You have to have the device there, either with the hotsync cable attached or via wifi. Either way, you have the device right there. Why would you need to initiate hotsync from your computer rather than simply tapping hotsync on the UX screen?

This is not your typical Palm PDA it is a Sony Clie, hence things are not standardized but innovative.

Although a hotsync button would be nice on the cradle as all other Palm PDA's or have the ability to hotsync via the desktop as in the Pocket PC platform the reason why I bought into the Clie series in the first place from the N610C to the NR70V to the NX70V to the NZ90U to the UX50 was for the bleading edge innovation.

Needless to say I expect things to be not of the norm!

Get ZLauncher and you get one screen tap Hotsync from your UX! There is a shortcut button you can place on the topbar and it launches usb sync or modem sync automagically. I love it.

I am using one of the 3 buttons on UX and set it up as a "hot syn" button.. press and tap. that's very cool?

Yes but you still have to confirm the hotsync by clicking on the screen, don't you?

I use MacroPlay to record the hotsync action and assign it to a button. That's the real one tap hotsync for me.
