Quick question for the forum.... I was looking around Ebay for a cheap 8MB or 16MB memory stick for my TJ35 when I came across the following two items.
Charging USB cable (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3057390575&category=48666)
AA battery extender/charger (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3057776984)
My first question is..... Are these for real!! They seem to be too good to be true. Which usually means they are! Are they safe? Has anyone had any experience with them? Or is it a risk that isn't worth taking?
Ideas? opinions? information?
I was planning on buying a sync cradle from Sony but these are so cheap. I thought I would at least ask if anyone had experience with these. I don't know the group that is selling these, but I am sure they are not Sony endorsed. I have also not been able to find any information about the seller apart from the Ebay store front. Hummm....
What do you guys/gals think, should I go for it?

They are real. I build a charger like that myself from some parts lying around. It's pretty simple.

A sync cradle is nicer because its props the CLIE up at a useable angle. I certainly wouldn't advise you to buy a sync cable if you're looking for something like a cradle. But if you're talking about travelling, a sync cable and/or battery charger is just the ticket.

I absolutely love the Belkin sync charger I bought at Fry's. I don't even use the stuff that came with my Clie anymore. Its nice to have both the charge and the syncing in the same thing.

I'd be curious about the Belkin cradle you purchased. Are you using it with a TJ35? If so, what is the model number. I've been looking for one.

Get the retractable one. I use it all the time. Same thing pretty much, but takes up less space when you're not using.

This is the one I have. I didn't pay that much for it at Fry's though. I think I paid $19.00 It came with a plug for Visors, Palms, and Clie's (T Series, same as the TJ35 uses). It also has a plug for a cigerette lighter. It is very compact. And fits very well next to my iPod's firewire cable in my laptop bag. The nice thing about it that none of the others I looked at had is that there is a sync button built into it. So you don't need to launch the sync app on the palm to start the syncing process.
And yes I have used it with my new TJ35 though I bought it for my SJ33.

I brought the Battery Extender from the same dealer in EBAY. It got sent and its a real item as shown. BUT its not the Sony Logo one that is advertised on www.sonystyle.com Instead its a cheap imitation from who knows where. But it seems to work. I plugged in the battery and turned it on and it started charging my pda.

I just bought one of the chargers off of EBAY myself. Hoping it arrives before Friday, I really needed something like this so I can use my TJ35 on the plane from Houston to L.A.

Yep, I bought a battery extender for around the same price ($7.99) I think. It's functioned fine for me, and a heck of a lot cheaper than the Sony branded one ($39.99).
I get almost 5 full charges out of a 4 pack of Energizers, and it's really come in handy on long trips to the desolate back woods of cottage country. :)

I am lucky, I don't get a rental car so I am stuck in my hotel most of the weekend; with no laptop! All I will have is my TJ35 and all of the stuff I bring on memory sticks. I am glad I switched from the SJ 20, I cannot imagine a weekend without music.
I will have my battery pack charger and my regular charger so I should never run out of juice!

This is interesting. Could you post some details (or photos) about it.

Well, I just bought one of the cables and the battery extender. I hope they are as nice as eveyone seems to think they are. I realize that I could probably make these myself, but I doubt they would look as nice. They probably wouldn't be any cheaper either. I am not sure about that though. There is something to be said about mass production.
Thanks for the feed back everyone!

Yep, they're not difficult to make, but for the $7 + shipping, why waste the time and effort building one? Now if the only battery extender on the market was Sony's at $40, that's another story. :)
Anyways, enjoy.

I essentially agree. I did it more as an exercise since the parts were all on hand. The adapter was provided by Sony with the CLIE. I used a battery pack fromy old XT. The only "effort" was to lookup the pinout and use the multimeter and some electrical tape.

I got my battery extender the day before I left for Los Angeles. I ended up using it extensively during my trip. From 10% left on the battery I got three full charges out of the extender, while using my TJ lightly during charging. I can say this was the best 7.00 I have spent so far on Clie! I reccomend that everyone get one of these things, you can't go wrong at the price and they really do work like a charm.

I'm not 100% positive, but I believe that the same charger is compatible with the T/S/SJ/NX series.

I have both of these items, the sync cable and the charger for my nx70v and they work great. I used the charger on a trip to Russia so that I wouldnt have to mess with the whole power conversion/goofy plug issue. I couldnt recommend a better purchase for your Clie.
