I Have the nx73
with the movieplayer, it says "Movieplayer format" and "MPEG format" or something.
I know how to play the MQV files..
anyway to just transfer a MPG or MPEG file to ms/cf and play it natively?

The search function is your friend.
For short: Yes, you can play MPEG1 movies, but it's hard to find a nice compressionrate to get it to play smoothly and you need much more space for the same movie in mpeg1 compared to mqv.

NP.
I did give you a nice respond and you would have been faster doing a small search than even formulating your question.
I love people that are to lazy to use the search function that afterwards complain about those, that told them, that this function exists.
Hi bighornsheep
I dont have a problem with compression etc using MPEG1 files although ripped DVD movies are quite large. I have several full ripped movies which average 350MB or so in size. The real advantage for me is that its one file rather than 2-3 truncated MQV files al la Image converter, (although I think this has a work around now). As I'm sure you know the video BB will point the way to DVD ripping and third party programs.
Cheers
