Hi.

I just switched to TJ25 from T415. Yes TJ25 is wider and thicker, but still I'm really happy with the color LCD and speed. Also the body color is very close to my 12" Powerbook and they look great together :)

Has anybody found a good case for TJ35/25, other than the one from sony? I'm not so into those "Universal" cases. They are jsut too big and thick, and you know, unsexy... Anybody know cool & slim case made for TJ series?

Thanks.

So far, this (http://www.proporta.com/detail.asp?id=590) one is the only one I've found. It's from Proporta.com, and it looks pretty nice.

Thank you for the info. Yes it looks really nice.

I found out that the cover, which came with TJ25, is bit too easy to remove. At least mine is. Also there is nothing protecting the back side of the body.

It doesn't take much to slide the included case down and off the unit. I think it's sturdy enough, but it's not connected as well as the old T series flip covers that held onto the back of the units.
Hopefully soon, more cases will emerge. I mean, the UX is getting a lot of case attention, and they came out relatively the same time.

Check out brando.com.hk they have a case made for TJ series. Also you can also use those that uses velcro back, if you don't mind that is.

Hi, Tone. Thank you for the info. Brando cases look very cool. Especially book style one. I think open-left-to-right, which brando does, is better way, at least for right handed users. I can't understand why sony makes right to left open cases.

I was waiting buying a case until many others start making cases for TJ, but suddenly a bad thing happened to my clie.

Oh, well, not happened, I did to it. Yes I dropped. My clie fell down from my backpack to bunch of small rocks in my house's front yard when I was getting out from the car!!

I thought he was gone. But he wasn't! Even though some scratches on his back remains, my clie survived that major accident.

But the cover didn't. One of those plastic joint parts was broken and gone. Now I have to carry TJ25 without a case or cover. I tried to use the pouch that I bought for Visor DX long time ago. But it seems just too big for slim clie TJ, so I got to buy a case for my TJ right away.

Today I went to local sonystyle store to check sony's original case for TJ. Bit too expencive but good leather quality and enough thickness & extra space between the edge of the case and handheld to protect clie.

I got 25% off coupon for clie accessories from sony, so I gave the sony's case a try. I think I'm going to use velcro tape on its back as well for extra safety. It should arrive sometime this week.

No worries :) and sorry to hear about your unit :(

I always like to have a case but when I got my TJ there were no cases available, I should have used the velcro ones, but instead, I used the flip cover.. and like u, I accidently dropped it too. Only minor scratches but the backlight goes off with the slightest movement. I got it fix now by sending it back to Sony, so being very careful now whilst waiting for my Brando case coming its way to me (I ordered the side flip version) ;)

Hi. Sorry to hear about the accident you had. :(

I guess mine seems ok other than some scratches on its back. But now I realized that the protection and case are extremely important. I guess I(we) should pay more attention for the protection of our PDA.

BTW, There was no physical damage other than few minor scratches, right?
Did you tell them about the accident? Did sony cost you for the repair?

I hope you'll get your TJ back really soon. :)

I'm going to wait for a Rhinoskin hard case. Mine saved my T615C from disaster several times. Not a scratch on my T but plenty on my Hard Case.

I know its always important to take care of my unit, it makes a lot of diff say, when u want to sell it off and upgrade... but I think I will be with my TJ35 for quite a long time...

Just minor scratches, but u know I rather have the unit flawless... :)

I got mine within a week, it cost me nothing as the unit is under warranty.

BTW, I used to have Innopocket metal case when I had my T665, its full of scracthes but my T665 unit is as good as new when I sold it off ! But I'd rather have a leather case as it looks professional, sleek and easier to hold, plus it doesnt look battered.

The SonyStyle web site now say "free leather case" above the TJ35 price. Anyone know what case that might be?

No idea... anyone can share?

I got my Brando leather case today and it looks good, came in a hard box and fits TJ35 perfectly. I would certainly recommend it!

Javoedge, you had me until I found out the case has a magnetic closure. Every single "magnetic closure" case I've had has been terrible. The magnets are always weak, and don't hold the case closed SECURELY.
Convince me.

I'm also interested in an aluminum/metal/hard case for my TJ35 since I'll be taking it to the gym with me. I know that iConcepts, Rhino Skin, InnoPocket, DSI Pocket Armor and possibly Vaja make aluminum/metal/hard cases for Sony Clie's but none are out for the TJ35 yet.

that is true, hwoever there are rumors that Vaja i believe is gonna make one, i have a freind whos cousin works for vaja. So hope its true

Vaja cases are nice, but completely overpriced. I spent the $$$ on one for a Pocket PC I had, but I wouldn't again. I'm not independently wealthy, so I still have to work for my money.
I've seen cases that do the exact same job and don't look half bad for less than half the price.

I emailed Rhinioshin Sales and Custom Manufacturing dpts yesterday and told them how many people are interested in hard cases for the TJ series. No reply yet.

I just got one of these leather cases and the magnet is surprisingly strong, it holds up my pda securely.

hmm, sorry but i dont trust leather, I got a case logic sport pak for 10 bucks, however it lacks a memory stick slot, but nice protection, and good lucks, nothing but dimes there

Bellagio makes a greap flip-style case for the T series, the style of which is very reminiscent of the Vaja cases. Instead of buying a Vaja case for my old T615C, I got one from Bellagio for $30.

I'm hoping Bellagio has a TJ style available soon.

is the belaggio one a hard case?

skawtnyc

No, the Bellagio case, like Vaja, is a cusioned leather case with PVC plastic inserts to prevent damage.

Has anyone tried the Proporta case that Nigeljedi posted? I'm looking for a flip style case and right now it looks like this is the only game in town. If you've tried it, can you tell me about:

1. Closure device (snap or magnetic)

2. Is there a reset hole in the back?

Thanks.

Hello,

I am new here, just got my TJ35. If I had known that finding a case (with a belt clip) was going to be so hard for this, I might have opted for a Palm.

Otherwise, happy with it so far and the cases everyone mentioned are nice but do any have a belt clip?

I found one for a Palm Zire that almost fit and probably can be modded to work but why re-invent the wheel (unless it is not out there).

Also checked on the javoedge unit and they said

"At the present, our TJ35 leather case does not come with the belt clip, but we may soon include the belt clip feature for the Sony Clie TJ25/TJ35 leather case. We will definitely notify you when we release the TJ25/TJ35 leather case with belt clip at Javoedge.com."

I have this (http://www.sumdex.com/glp806.htm) one. It's supercheap and available at Office Max or Office Depot or whatever. I'd love a nice, real leather version... Or perhaps something similar, but with more wallet slots for credit cards and even a clear window for a pic of the kids. Two-tone tan and black leather would be even nicer, but beggars can't be choosers.

The best feature of the beforementioned Sumdex case is that it has a (fake) leather flap separating my credit cards from my Clie's screen. Many wallet-type cases do not.

Anyone know of any similar cases?

I e-mailed Rhinoskin a little why back and got a reply that they were not interested in making a case for the TJ series at this point and they had no plans to in the future. I'm looking for an aluminum hard case, I've been searching the internet to no avail, anyway found any?

I have a similar case to the one above. It was put out by Sony...and says 'Clie' on the bottom right of the front cover. It's perfect because I can keep my $$, credit cards, ID cards and my palm all in one case, plus it's just small enough to keep in my pocket.

The only downside, and I'm not sure if that's the case with the one in the link above, but it connects to the case by a velcro strip.

My intention is to slice off the 'hooks' that came with the Clie cover and superglue it to the case that I'm using now.

Any suggestions?

I'm waiting for a metal case, too. Right now the TJ-35 is in a Palm Rhinoskin case - looks like the 500/505 series. Fits in pretty well, plus a piece of self adhesive weather stripping keeps it tight w/o scratching. Isn't too sexy, but definitely a damn sight safer than some of the leather cases. That's my entertainment center on motorcycle trips.

How does the handheld attach to the case? I like the price!!Unfortunately, the Clie attaches to the Sumdex (http://www.sumdex.com/glp806.htm) case via Velcro strip. I still like the case, but it does feel cheap.

I've actually snapped the battery compartment door clips off a prior device trying to get it off the Velcro. Be careful.

good advice, EchoBravo. That was my biggest worry as soon as I opened the box for the case. It didn't say anything about a velcro strip. :P
