Hi,
I'm new here (just got an nx80) and thought it would be really cool if I could get an Advance emulator but apparently no such software exists. So I thought I my try my hand at making one or more realistically porting an existing one. I read an earlier thread on how possible/impossible this would be but it wasn't very clear either way.
Say we used the sourecode from VisualBoyAdvance http://www.sourceforge.net/projects/vba
would it be possible to convert this code to one that could run on a Palm?
I'm probably not the person for the job, I'm really a psychology student but I'll have some spare time soon.

It's a lot of work since palm programming is pretty different for numerous reasons. Also, to make it fast enough you'd have to recode large parts using OS5 Armlets probably.
Ardiri is coming out with a GBA emulator with the next version of Liberty, so I hear. Don't worry, just wait ;/

Yeah, that's was rumored to be coming out this fall, so it should be soon. Cheers

I hope you have a very fast Palm because GBA emulation needs at least a 500mhz CPU on PC and I think it should be the same on PDA

No. Aaron (working on the new one) said something about running acceptably on a 100mHz smartphone. At least I think that's what it is. Something like that. They say they have the "morphgear" code working on something else and just need to port it to palm. Cheers

Thanks for the info. It looks like other people have had the same idea I did and have already made significant progress. I guess we can all just wait and see what they come up with. I'm still interested in getting into programming for the palm, I guess I'll find something else to play with. Any feasible suggestions?

The GBA uses an ARM based CPU, so you won't need to emulate the CPU on OS 5 devices. That should allow it to run quite well on most if not all existing OS 5 PDAs.
