I know that there has been discussion around upgrades so I apologize if this is redundant.

I have a couple of specific questions about upgrading to an NX60.

1) I use Netzero as my ISP- does anyone know if I could use them with the CF Modem in the NX?

2) Is the speed increase really as dramatic as some claim it to be?

3) I have quite a few programs that I don't want to do with out. I won't say they are required because a lot of them are games, but you know how that goes. For example- AckWire, Aldons Crossing, Bonsai, Cryptopad,FileZ, Paravia, Patience, Space Trader, SimCity, Tiger Woods Golf, Taipan, and old version of thinkDB(2.0.0), Yahdice. I also use DTG, but I am pretty sure that one will be fine.

4) What about hacks?-My initial understanding is that the old ones won't work with OS5. I heavily use McPhling, MegaWiki, Find Button Hack, and PageDown Hack.

Thanks for any input. I won't purchase the NZ series because it is too much money and my company does not support WiFi and probably won't for quite a while so I am not sure just what advantages the NX series will give me. Any advice or comments would be appreciated.

I'll answer the one's I can.

2) System speed is much improved over the NR and it will spoil you!

3) Some will and some won't, mostly because of the HiRes display and it's different than the NR70.

4) Here again some hacks will and some won't. In anycase you'll need Tealmaster for any hack that does work.

1.)check with netzero on this one, i don't see why not though.
2.)never used a NR, but there was a huge difference over my N760
3.) all those programs should work on the NX except i am not sure about ackwire, cryptopad, and paravia. i don't know what those are so i can't give you an answer on them.
4.)McPhling works great and it is not a hack on the NX. the others i am not sure about though. there is a recent thread about what hacks have been successfully run on the NX.

i have heard some people use wired modems (non WiFi) with their NXs through the infrared port.

Thanks for the posts!

Ackwire and paravia are games. ACkwire is a hotel chain buying, merging, game. Parvia is also a game.

Cryptopad is a replacment for memo pad that allows you to encrypt a memo or category of memos.

Another quesiton-Is there a speed difference even for those applications that are not OS 5 specific?

Everything is basically much faster if it runs on the NX. The NX speed is a non-issue!

Another in my barrage of questions-Can anyone compare accessing the internet through the CF modem vs. a cable purchased from thesupplynet.com and my cell phone?

Well, this issue has been resolved. I was in Staples checking out a planner and tested to see if my NR would fit when it slipped out of the case, obviously it did not fit, and hit the floor. So the screen had some issues and as I tried to fix it, it shattered. Now I am forced to upgrade and cannot sell the old one.

Thanks for all the input. If anyone has any tips, suggestions, etc. I would appreciate them.
