How long to convert?

How long should it take to convert a 30 minute video with Kinoma? I know there are many variables involved, but I'm looking for a ballpark figure.

I used the NR70v preset, running an AMD Athlon XP1800+ with a gig of memory, and the conversion I started an hour ago is a little less than halfway done.

May I'm being impatient, however from the number of people who are converting to Kinoma I imagined the process would be quicker.

The file I am converting is around 330 meg, captured to mpeg-1 format in VCD quality using ATI's all-in-wonder radeon software.

Is there a better setting to use for initial capture?

WTH? When I posted the above I was less than 50% complete, a couple minutes later, and it is done!

The 30 minutes turned into 112mb, which I'll put on my Clie and watch in bed tonight. What settings are best for tv shows? Ideally I'd like to fit at least an hour, maybe 90 mins on a 128er.

I used the default NR70 settings, except I did choose custom layout, 320x320 to get rid of white space (I hope that's what that does).

So I used:
Cinepack, 15fps, 320,240 size in pixels, 400kbps video, and Clie Audio, stereo, 33,000 kbps, no audio boost.

What should I do to get smaller files, say ~40mb per 30 minutes?
