In using the Palm Desktop for Clie', I want to import all of my contacts from Outlook so I can Sync with my PDA. I cannot find a way to import the addresses in one shot. In other words, how do you tell Palm Desktop "get my contacts from Outlook" in one shot. The only thing I can find to do is import individually as VCF files. Also, am I to understand that you do not get a function like the Intellisync program with you Clie' software? I currently bought a Clie' TJ25.

Not sure I understand your question. Do you want to import your Outlook data to the Palm Desktop and then continue to use the palm desktop, or do you want to just use Outlook and use intellisync to sync to your PDA? If you've installed intellisync I don't think you can sync with the palm desktop on a permanent basis.

I don't use Intellisync. I use Pocket Mirror by Chapura. I would think they function similar. When I installed the software it changed my hotsync conduits to sync with Outlook and therefore could no longer sync with the palm desktop. However when I'm in Outlook I can open up settings for Pocket Mirror and then go into the contacts section. In the contact section under hot sync I can set it to do a one time hotsync of all of my Outlook contact data to the palm desktop. That will keep the palm desktop updated. But yet the next time I hot sync it will sync my PDA to Outlook because thats the way the conduits are set. I'm sure Intellisync functions similarly.

You hit in there somewhere. I either want to sync Outlook Contacts directly to my PDA or sync Outlook Contacts to the Palm Desktop so I can then Hotsync to the PDA. There does not seem to be a way to do that currently using only the Palm Desktop. I am having to individually import VCF files of my contacts into the Palm Desktop then Hotsync to the PDA. Kind of a pain. Am I missing something?

So are you saying you installed Intellisync and it won't sync your contacts from Outlook to your PDA?

No. Do not have Intellisync. Isn't that a third party software?

I have a similar question - I had tried to hotsync with my old Clie to the Yahoo online calendar so my assistant could have access to it and the Clie got corrupted - the tech people told me the Clie isn't compatible with Intellisync.

Does anyone know a safe way to sync with an online calendar? Otherwise I'll have to get involved with some extensive networking.

thanks!

Starfish software used to have something to do this. Unfortunately, PumaTech (the makers of Intellisync) have 'acquired' Starfish technology (dunno if that means the whole company or what), so there is no guarantee that you can still get the Starfish product.

I saw your thread but couldn't make out the answer to the original question. Did you get the contacts sync to work? I'm having the same problem.

You can export your Outlook contacts in to a tab or comma separated file and then import them from the Palm Desktop. I did this and it worked great.

to go back to the first treath, offcourse you can synchronise everything from outlook to your pda.
You have to specify that on the preference of intelisync on your PC.

And if i can recommend datebk5 this is a more advanced kind off datebook on your pda. check it out

Thanks for your replies. I realize I probably wasn't specific enough, but I think it's getting clearer to me. I actually have sync'ed my contacts, but find that there are fewer fields in my clie software than in Outlook (for example, Outlook has home and work address fields, clie has only one). I don't have Intellisync, but sounds like this would help? Seems I just have to bite the bullet and buy it to access all my contact info. P.S. thanks for the datebook recommendation.
