As a newbie, I am confused as to which brand of memory stick to pick for my new nx60. Are there differences in speed of access, reliability, compatibility or is it all purely dependent on price?
BTW if this is already on FAQ I was unable to find it.
TIA - tommyd

Well I have one Sony brand 128 and one Lexar brand 128 and can't tell the difference (except in price).
I also have Sony 64 and 16 MSs.
Most of the Sony stuff came as bonuses; I bought the Lexar from www.buy.com and got a rebate which brought the price down to about $20 for the 128MB stick.

I have a Sony MS and an I-O Data MS and the only difference has been the price. Both score similar marks with VFSMark and neither MS displays any signs of wearing out.
I carry various Kinoma files and am constantly pasting and deleting from the sticks.

Same with me. Have had both and don't notice any differences or had any problems. So go for the best deal!

agree with the above, i have sony, lexar and sandisk and can't tell a difference. i believe sandisk manufactures both the sony and sandisk-branded sticks, so just go for the best deal.

memory sticks are very similar in speeds - some tend to get more corrupted (cough cough lexar) but that is rare and easily fixed by deleting and reinstalling. smart media cards do vary in speeds as do compact flash. I'm sure there may be some differences in speed of 256 or 512 mb memory sticks, but unless you're running up to date (1 bloody GB!!) those are beyond your needs.
the lexar MS doesn't came with labels.....
