is there a way to convert a flash swf file's audio from mp3 to adpcm so it can play on the nx? opening and re-exporting it doesn't seem to work inn flash itself, but then again, i don't use flash much...

Sorry, I don't think it's possible. Removing the protection from a swf in order to allow importing into Flash is easy, you just have to delete 2 bytes, but recompression? That would need a decompiler but all I was able to find were resource extractors.

Many Flash files have sound that is in MP3 format. Unfortunately, the NX Flash Player cannot playback the sound in those files.
I searched through a bunch of back threads, but didn't get too much info out of it.
There has been a group playing around with flash files, maybe you could join and ask your questions there.

swf is midi format. MIDI is just flat out data; it's like sheet music, it just tells the os what notes to play... It does not actually contain the music that you hear... Get what I'm saying? That's why you can have a 20 minutes midi song still be incredibly small, because it's just sheet music =)
I know this doesn't give you the answer to your question, but some insight into what your trying to do...
I guess what you would need is a program that can read the sheet music, then play it and record it in the type of format your looking for....

Actually Flash can do multiple types of audio. MP3 is very common, especially in animated episodes and such.

Uhm ... very interesting ... but what are you talking about??? ADPCM is not Midi and neither is MP3. Both are PCM based and save the amplitude of any wave on a periodic basis. i.e. 44100 times per second.

well it appears I need a bit more sleep... I read SMF and did not catch some of the important vocab in my skimming of the original post (i.e. flash)... my fault =)
I thought the original post was dealing with SMF (midi) and PCM (wave).... oops...

It can be done, I did that last night.
Search high and low for a .swf file decompiler. Flash Decompiler was the easiest for me. http://www.flash-decompiler.com/
Since the program is demo, you cannot export the audio tracks to file. There is a loophole. Play the track in flash decompiler and also record the audio from the sound card at the same time. Use the sound recorder applet from windows. I used a different program to record the audio from my sound card.
I then saved and edited my new sound clip as a wav file. Next I used Sony's Sound Utility to send the .wav file to my PDA.
Worked out very nicely. Now my next problem is that Agendus only recognizes midi sounds and not adpcm sounds. The conversion I just made only generated me a adpcm file.
By the way, several .swf files that I decompiled used either .wav (adpcm) or .mp3 sound clips. Didn't notice any that used .midi based sound clips.

Download the newest version of flash from clie-link.com. I'm pretty sure that it works just fine with mp3-based flash documents

Ussually when a new user resurects a bunch of 4 year old threads in different forums to praise the same app, I think it is probably SPAM.
Do it the right way and post a little review, in the software forum.
