Does NX70 and NX80 use the same screen ?

Hi

I have a NX80 with a broken screen. I was wonder if any one knows if I can replace it with a NX70 or NR70 screen???

I havn't heard otherwise and I generally keep up with such things. So yeah, I think so. I am 95% sure the nr/nx are interchangeable. BTW how did this happen?

According to this individual company I went to to get my screen protector installed in Hong Kong. The nx80/73 screen is a tiny tiny tiny bit wider, and tiny tiny tiny tiny tiny bit shorter compared to the nx70 screen. The NR screen however is indistingushably longer than the nx73/80 screen while being the same width.

Hopes this helps, I don't think it will matter much because we're talking about 1mm difference in width and length of the screen.

Yeah, and i think the connectors are the same

Could it be the size of the frame that is different, not the screen?
Don forget that there are four extra buttons on the frame of the NX80

the viewable area on the NX80 and the older NX/NR screens may be the same, but the size of the LCD may actually be different, We can't be sure of this unless someone dismantles the 2 devices and place the LCDs side by side... but my guess is that there is a slight difference. Considering that the NX80 has the 4 hardware buttons, the LCD frame would have less volume to contain the LCD screen, hence the new screens may actually be shorter compared to the NR, old NX.

Yeah, but the original question was about the digitizer(I think, unless the lcd went as well). I think the digitizer is very close in all 3 models

Hmmm..... I was under the impression the LCDs and the digitizers for the HiRes+ screens are inseparable, meaning if either one of those goes bad, you have to replace the whole thing, which is why Sony charges sky high prices for damaged LCDs/Digitizers.

I'm sorry to say but you are out of luck. You have to send your clie to Sony for a repair. I recently brought a brand spanking new NX80 without any CC warranty and broke the screen. I spent on two NX's NX60 and NX70V and tried to graft the scren but tough luck.

The difference between the NX 80 and NX70/60 screen is that NX80V screen in much thinner and the Digitizer is plastic and not glass as in NX70. Aslo the ribbon connector in the NX70 has more number of pins. And at most it will fry your good NX80 idf you try to put NX80v ribbon cable into NX70V screen. Also if you are into disassebly then let me tell you you can disassemble NX70 to the last screw and put it back( I have done it twice) However NX80 NANA forget because they have put the parts so close together that you will have a hard time figuring out how to put things back.

But hey my solution would be send it back to sony for 175 bucks get it repaired.

I bought the unit with a broken LCD for 200.00, so if I send it to Sony and it it fixed, it will have cost me 350-375.

No I am not a detective but was looking for a nx80v same item for a screen replacement and extra battery. I was planning to *snipe* but I guess 200 was too much for a dead PDA. And yes the replacement of the glass sucks sony takes 10 -15 days. I am expecting mine back by next monday. I guess
