Sony don't want to release code of CF and their Audio API too!!!!
I'm pretty sure with ARM processor we'll make voice encoder with low bitrate OGG.
I don't understand Sony's position because playing OGG files and encoding OGG files in realtime could attract more people.

How about VBR MP3 support while we're at it. All of my MP3's are VBR encoded...

playing oggs with cause issues with MS PRO. Remember that sony wants to control info as well? Notice how all the new MS are magicGate? (except for the ms select... which looks totally useless to me... but what do I know?) While I would love to see that happening, i just doubt it.

You have to realize that MagicGate will in no way stop you from playing norma media files. MagicGate is a copy-protection scheme that only works with special formats that support it such as Sony's ATRACT3 audio format. Any files that work on a regular Memory Stick will work the same on a MagicGate stick.

As long as there is ATRAC3, Sony will never support Ogg.
The best you can hope for is a developer write a plug in for the Clie media player or write an Ogg player from scratch.

*maybe* they changed it, but all the preceding audio APIs just have functions for playing MP3 and ATRAC3 files. So even if they released it for the NX, you wouldn't be able to use it to make it use OGG files....You'd probably have to write it in assembly since the sony uses a special digital signal processing chip....Or you may be able to use the processor and code it in C++, but that would slow it down...
