jacksprat on nx70v

can anyone help me? I've read everything I can find and I can't work out if jacksprat works to reprogram the firmware on an nx70v. Does it?

if so where can I find a rom image to update my useless pda?

Define "useless."

The reason I ask is that without knowing what your complaints are, it's hard to provide a solution.  By "useless," do you mean not enough free RAM or FlashROM?  Do you mean that you want to replace the PalmOS with another?  Do you mean that you want to make your PDA into a race car?  :D

I'm not sure that JackSprat will ever take a "useless" PDA and turn it into a useful one.  And I'm not sure how a generic "rom image" will help someone who thinks that the stock PDA is "useless."

Jack Flash will work with your PDA. It will give is some additional Flash ROM memory space. It is recommended for most CLIE users.

Jack Sprat does not run on the NX/NZ/UX series CLIEs.

To upgrade the operating system on your PDA, the way to do that is to buy a new PDA. Don't laugh, that is the approach that has worked for Sony in the past, and into the future.

The UX40/UX50 model has a newer version of PalmOS (5.2) which supports more features (including audio streaming and faster memory stick access).

should have been more specific. I guess looking at it in the cold light of day, its not the clie that's useless, but me...

I was in Japan last week and decided to buy a second user NX70V. I had made only cursory searches on the web and thought it would be possible to reflash the firmware to an english version. It seems I was kinda wrong there, so now I have a 'useless' to me PDA.

Anyone want to buy a japanese NX70V?

Nope Dude You are not out of luck. Search and you will find a Hong Kong Address where they do what you are asking for. THEY FLASH ENGLISH ROM in Japanese NX70V. Don't give up Use SEARCH in Cliesource I'm sure you will find the address.

But I am so sorry to tell you that... I had a NX-70V/J earlier too , and I searched all over Hong Kong , and , unluckily , nobody does that because the source where they import the roms and change it for their customers is gone (I dont know what gone means too...)

And... I've finally replaced my NX-70V with a US NX-73... really a wonderful machine....
