View Full Version : Franklin-Covey Planner Question
I have the Franklin Covey planning suite for my old visor pro and would like to use it for my NX60. Has anybody here attempted to use this planning software with their Clie? Just interested to know. My first attempt at doing this with the computer I use to sync my visor caused major conflicts between the applications and I could not get my Clie or my visor to sync with the computer. Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
I figured out how to do this. Since nobody responded I thought I'd just post the solution in case somebody runs into the problem in the future. The steps were as follows:
1) Remove FC planner completely from computer (Remember to back everything up first)
a) using the application remover in XP
b) deleting the "program files" directory.
c) using regedit in the run menu to remove the registry.
2) Install the clie software with the CD
3) Install the FC Planner 7.5.3 WITHOUT the PDA option.
4) Install the 8.0 Franklin planner update. This time indicate that you do want to install a pda.
5) Do the necessary recoveries and everything works fine
I hope this is of help to anybody who may need it.

Thanks for figuring it out, gif. I'm in a similar situation where I'm upgrading from a Palm m105 to an SJ20, and I also use the Franklin Covey Planner software.
I've got a question on Step 2. Which software did you install from the CLIE CD? On the CD that came with the SJ20, I have three options: Palm Desktop for CLIE, CLIE Utilities, and Third Party Software.

Make sure that if you are running OS5 that you go to the Franklin Covey site and download the 8.1 update. Franklin Planning version 8.0 does not work on OS5 devices. I have an NX70 and discovered this after installing version 8.0.
I currently use an NX60 so I can't really comment about the SJ model per se. I can tell you that I did installed almost everything but the palm desktop. I found that NOT installing the Palm desktop from the clie and NOT installing the a PDA from the franklin version 7 was the key. When you update to version 8 it appears to take care of it.
As far as edreese's suggestion I can say that I have been using version 8.0 without the update for about two months now and it has been rock solid. I will, however, give the 8.1 update a shot. The FC organizer is a much better option than the palm desktop for me.
I really hope this helps.

The first place I would check is the Franklin Covey website.
