I'm hoping to get a UX50 in Early November.. Before then I have a few questions really.. It's getting bought for me and I want to make sure its as good for my uses as I think it'll be..

I'm upgrading from a Palm m130 (haha) and an e-mate 300 (which i bought more for curiosity value than anything) I've never used a clie.. I guess i should start with the questions, and Hi. :) I've been reading here for a bit, it's one of the things that's persuaded me sofar to go the UX route..

Can you use the UX while it's sat on the charging cradle? I've seen things suggesting it basically balances there.. if it 'clips' somehow though it'd be usable?

Is silverscreen good compared to the other launchers? :) I have it registered on my m130 is all and I wonder how it fares.. I dont even know if it supports landscape though.

Does the Pocketop IR keyboard work on the UX50? Hmm. Not too important as it has built in kb, but would be nice as I have on for the m130. KBs are important to me because i do a lot of writing.. Being able to jot down ideas easily is important. the m130 sucked for that. I preferred using the software KB to grafitti.

How long can i expect the battery life from just using wordsmith? hehe. not the most cpu intensive app i guess.

Is there a good FTP client that can remember varous profiles for different upload dirs etc? (im sure there must be) - basically, if i could use it to blog using this, over wifi, that'd rock.. I run Blosxom on my website, which uses text files instead of SQL etc, so simply being abe to uplod.txt files would be perfect.. if....

Can anyone recommend an editro for writing/saving straight text files to the memory stick preferably? :)

How well does the flash player work? If I go to http://www.iloveegg.com for example and download some of the anims, is it powerful enough to play them? Im hoping so.. I was thinking if it's powerful enough, getting off my *** and making a couple of flash games maybe..

Ok I can't think of many more things.. Umm.. ooh, does anyone know if drawit works ok on the UX? I think i'll have to research that one myself.

Thanks in advance. :) I suspect you can tell im already hooked on the idea of getting a UX, but by asking i'll feel better about the idea. :D

It's usable. It clips into the cradle, and you can use it with the keyboard just fine. It's just like using it with the spare battery attached, except that you're wired to the wall.

I hate SilverScreen. And ZLauncher. And all the others except the free ones. Get CRSLauncher and it''ll be just fine. But I suppose if you've already registered it then you might as well keep it. I believe they recently added support for UX, but I'm not sure.

Yep, works like a charm.

Probably 3-4 hours, backlight low to medium.

This could be a problem. Documents To Go claims native format, but I don't think it can save .txt files

That animation caused my UX to crash. Dunno why. Otherwise the player really should work just fine. More Flash games!

Everything works, just not full screen.

- The UX snaps very tightly into the cradle and can be difficult to remove if you don't know how so no problem here.

- Launchers depend heavily on personal preferences. You have to try them out yourself. If you download from palmgear, they will list the compatible resolution so don't worry.

- I don't have experience with IR keyboard, but I've seen posts suggesting that IR keyboards are highly compatible in general.

- I think you can expect at least 4-5 hours of battery life for minimal applications and a lot more with ext.battery.

The rest I don't have knowledge. :-(

Btw, thanks for the site! My reply in return. :-P

thanks both of you, that's really reassuring.. ^^

Lol. Sorry to pick a site that crashed the UX, it was the first thing with downloadable flash animations i thought of, and i thought it'd be cool to have those on the move.. Or similar.

I hadn't tried the flash player before replying to your questions -- now I'm trying to find some swfs to try and see if anything works. Most sites though don't let you download the swfs, they only play them for you in the browser. How do I get around this?

Just curious on how to remove the UX from the cradle "properly"? Everytime I do it "clicks" and just doesn't feel right to me.
