Hey Folks,

I hope that all of you are well.

Today I had quite a frustrating experience at Best Buy that I would like to comment on. I've seen other postings for, as well as against the extended warranty of the store, so I figured that I had to contribute my story.

Today I went into BB to exchange by Clie for another since it has frequently freezing, crashing, and losing data. There are times that it completely does not turn on until I plug it into the charger, almost as if it needed a "jump start". Surely the unit was not manufactured to act like an old car. First I spoke to the employee, then to the store manager, and they told me that in order to honor the BBuy warranty, I would have to "replicate the problem" for them to see. Since the problems I have been having happen many times due to chance, I could not "show them" as they wished.

I'm quite frustrated because I need to have a functioning unit, but it frequently is giving me problems. I bought the warranty so that I would not have to be going through this kind of crap. Anyone have any insight?

Thanks viewing this posting.

Aires.

Next time it freezes up, take it in and show them that it won't respond to anything. I know that's a pain, but that's the only thing I can think of.

That has happened to me twice. I'm a registered clie member but I'm not posting for a maybe obvious reason. I use an overclocking program to overclock the clie to the max. When it freezes, you can usually just reset it and try a safer level but, I take it to them and show them. That maybe cheating, but you don't want a pda that is going to freeze on you when you need it most. Best Buy has some very stupid policies. I prefer Circuit City. Best Buy's paper trail, receipt only (even if they've seen you 20 min previous), show me an example of the problem antics are terrible and I think doing the overclocking thing completely justifiable.

You like Circuit City better? They don't even want to see you if you have a problem at that store! You've got to call an 800 number and spend a half hour on the phone trouble shooting with some tech that knows less about PDA's then you do. Then, if they decide you have a real problem you have to send it in to be fixed (wait for the box to come, mail it back, wait for them to fix it, and mail it back again).

I want a warranty that allows me to have a problem, bring it to the store, show them the problem, and then walk out with something else. Going a day without my PDA is like going a day without eating, I just can't do it.

My T665c wasn't recognizing Memory sticks anymore. I spent 30 minutes on the phone hard resetting a million times. Then they weren't going to fix it for me because I wasn't using "Sony" brand memory sticks. So I lied and said I was and it wasn't recognizing those either.

Almost 2 weeks later the thing finally came back.

Not the plan I thought I bought. Not the plan they advertised in the literature they provided me at the time of purchase. Not what the salesman promised me, not what the manager promised me.

Their excuse? They say the brochure is not a binding contract, they say the salemen and managers are not expected to understand the details in the plans they sell.

I kid you not!

I'm thinking of file a claim maybe in small claims court, definately with the Better Business Bureau.

I had a problem with my 6month old T665 in that the battery drained faster than it did when it was new. I politely explained the problem to the customer service personell at BB and they accepted my word. I didn't think they were going to sit there and watch for hours as the battery indicator on my clie drained and then compare that rate to some standard. I found them to be sincere and trusting of my explanation. I think also, it helps when they have heard of THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM BEFORE. Perhaps a different type of complaint (hint, hint) would convince them that it is not worth their time to ask for a demonstration.

I hope this helps.
