I have the SSID set to Any. When connect, is there a way to find out which SSID I am connected to? The log seems to be blank in most cases with just the IP number showing.

Even with CLIE NetMon, you can't find out. It just shows "Any". I find this quite annoying because you can never re-connect to the same network if you are roaming.

If you actually had permission to connect to the wireless network, you would know the ssid.

Sometimes SSID info doesn't id doesn't get transmitted, if AP is set not require it from client.
If are you using Netfront to authenticate, you can get more info out of certificate ticket. Click on the Lock icon on top righthand.

I used to think this, but then I ran into a few situations where finding out the SSID would have been nice.
Case #1: I have a trial account with T-Mobile for use at Starbucks, Borders, etc. You'd think that the SSID would be tmobile, but I couldn't get that to work at a particular store.
Obviously, the Starbucks clerk didn't even know what an SSID was.
I tried "Any" and couldn't connect.
Finally, I saw a student with a laptop. He showed me his screen and it said the SSID was "linksys."
Changed the SSID on my Clie to "linksys" and I was able to connect (got the T-Mobile log-in screen).
See, this is a place where I had permssion to use the network, didn't know the SSID and had no easy way to find out (had there not been someone else there), and the network wasn't WEP protected (or MAC protected).
Case #2: My office has several wireless networks in the building. They each have their own SSID, determined by whoever setup the AP. I have no idea who, on a given floor or part of a floor, setup the AP. Given that they all connect to our corporate network, I have permission to connect (we protect the network in other ways). In some cases, there might be multiple APs in an area. Again, "Any" has never helped me. If I bring my laptop with me (with WiFi card), I can see the SSIDs. If I enter one into my Clie, it works.

I've been wondering the same thing. NetMon is nice to have to let you know your up/down speed...But if ssid is set to any, it still doensn't tell the ssid's name.
It would be nice if a new version of netmon comes out, including the name of the ssid.
