Is there an app or patch that lets you use real names for the movie files in Movie Player? It really bugs me to use the MOV0000... with a lot of movies I can't tell what is what.

thanks
Andy

NX Movie Aide does the job pretty well. Find it in Palm Gear. 14 days free to try and i think $4.95 after that. good luck

Thanks for the tip. I went over to PG and tried it. Nothing but fatal exceptions and resets! I emailed the developer and they have replied that it only works on the NX70, but they are working on fixes for other models...

bummer

I couldn't even get the trial to work with the NX70V!

it's worked for my NX70V, albeit, with issues. It is supposed to allow you to play MQVs that are saved in their original name. What the program seems to do is rename these files on the memorystick/CF card automatically to the MOV0000*.mqv format. If you get out of MoviePlayer and go back in, however, it gives you an error for each file. It seems like it trying to rename the MOV0000* files it created the last time and realizes that its trying to give it the same name When you press OK or cancel it still lets you play the files but now you're back at square one - The files have been renamed to the standard format which makes it impossible to tell which file is which when you browse the contents of the memory stick or CF card.

Still, it works...

I'm working on making this app a lot more stable, bear with me, I recently returned from a 4 month trip to Japan and I got mono a couple weeks ago :) I'll get it out soon. No more crashes, no more resets, compatibility with all os5 clies. And cf cards.
And I'll make it more clear that the trial version really is a trial and doesn't require you to register before using it (some people get confused by this since the app has no real interface and works transparently in the background).

If anyone wants to beta test for me, tell me here please.

iebnn:

that was exactly my experience. usually when you have to register, it means pay.
will be happy to beta test.

Thanks, Jay

It doesn't actually mean that you NEED to register. It's optional. Sorry, I need to make this more clear in the next version. Since I didn't code any interface for the app (since it didn't really need one), I just had it automatically ask if you were ready to register the app. If you weren't, you can still use it without entering a serial. I worded it poorly. I'll just make a simple interface for the next version (two buttons... help, register I guess. Maybe something for on/off)

Keep us updated on your progress with this and when it's available. I too would love to use this for naming my videos!

I am a NX Aide user and I actually paid for it!! What happens is when I tried the trial version and when the 14day run was up, the nx aide would actually hard reset my clie! I was so frustrated that I just said the heck with it, I'll shell out 5 bux! From then on, no resets...well no thats a lie, maybe one soft reset every 10 times i play a movie. Which isnt bad at all.

Back to the question at hand, I would love to be a beta tester of your new versions. Feel free to PM or email me!

Thanks! I hope I can help!
