Is the T3 worth just an extra $50? I have a gift certificate for the rest?

Appreciate the math. I have a gift certificate for the rest. I really would like to know if there is that much difference in the machines. I always had Sony's. The T3 looks real nice though.

If you want for a device with good Battery Life, Better outlook(Maybe) and Lighter in size, you should go for TJ..
otherwise, TT3 for sure

Is there that much of a difference in battery life? If the TJ 35 has a bigger processor wouldn't that make a difference in battery life. Does anyone know the difference between these two models?

I was just about to order a T3 last week when I stumbled across a very disconcerting series of posts on the Brighthand Palm Tungsten Forum. It seems the T3 fries memory cards !!!!! You would do well to spend some time on the Tungsten Forum -- you might get the same feeling that I got about the unresponsiveness of Palm, not only with the memory card issue but about other problems in general. It makes me wonder if I really want to buy a product from such a company. That's why I'm here on the Cliesource forums -- I'm looking for an alternative to Palm.

Here's the link to the Brighthand Forum:

I saw that. There is a patch that remedies that as well as extend battery life. Palm support does s..k. That is why I have a SJ30. But I really like the T3 screen. I am able to get it for $339 without tax. Seems like a lot more PDA than the TJ 35 for that price.

By "patch", are you referring to the T3Optimizer? I saw some posts there that say some people think that T3Optimizer might have some effect on the memory card problem, but there's nothing concrete about it. In fact, noone really knows what is causing the problem, whether it affects all brands, all sizes, locked or unlocked SD cards. You can't 'shoot what you can't see.

From where I stand, I feel very unsure about plunking down $339 or more on a product that destroys $100 to $200-plus memory cards and that Palm seems unwilling to stand behind. Without a doubt, it's a gorgeous piece of hardware -- I mean I was THAT close to ordering it -- but it's gotta work properly!! I think I will keep my hard earned money in my pockets for now and continue looking at various Clies.

I've been struggling with some of the same issues. I plan on waiting a month or two and letting things sort out with the T3 and resolving the SD problems. Other than that, I think it's the best fit for my next PDA and a good value. I love the idea of large screen in a small expandable PDA. I think a lot of Sony users have jumped to the T3 for that reason too.

Hey, it's not TJ vs. T3.

It's TJ vs. TE/TT/TT2 and TT3 vs. Zodiac!

Get the T3. With 400MHz speed, 64MB ram, DTG6, built-in bluetooth and great finishing (Nice silver colour casing) it totally beats the TJ down.

the ... Zodiac! :-P

T3 fries only Sandisk cards ... and so do Dell Axim. I think it's more a problem with Sandisk rather than T3.

Performance problem after power off/on is now solved.

Screen edges problem ... well, you can return it if you got one. If you look around, you can find substantial amount of posts about clies not charging out of the box. And if you think you'd trust sony support, you might want to think again.

Is this really a question? Get the T|T3 :D

There are so many advantages of the T|T3 that I can't even count them. I love my T|T3, and I don't regret buying it. It has 64MB RAM, a 375MHz CPU (sure, palmOne says its 400, but it don't feel like it :(), a 320x480/480x320 screen, bluetooth, and it's one of the last PDAs to have the "real" PALM symbol on the front :D.

Oh, and the battery isn't too bad. Mine could last 1-2 days w/o charging (ie. From 8:00am (Monday) to 8:00pm (Tuesday)).

T3 without question.

SanDisk cards are faulty, not the T3. This has been a known issue before the T3 even came out. I think the issue became more problematic with the T3 due to faster processor speeds. The word on SD cards is GET PANASONIC. Panasonic makes both Lexar and PNY. My wife and each have 256MB cards. Mine on a T3, hers on a T. Both run flawlessly.

Don worry about the SD issue. Just get the Panasonic ones!

I just switched to a T3 from a Clie and I can tell you that, while the screen is incredible, there features that a Clie user will either have to do without or purchase (making this unit less of a bargain). Here they are:

No backup utility (a grievous error in my book)
No card mounting software (There's $20.00 for a card reader or 3rd party software)
Lousy mp3 playback (real one sounds mono, so you will want to buy pocket tunes to get decent sound).
Pixelated video playback courtesy of Kinoma
Poor battery life (don't care what anyone else tells you, its pretty bad for a heavy user)
no back button (again get your wallet out for McPhling because you will miss this button most likely)
no headphones (only missed if you're an nx user)
horrible power button (you really have to mash it to use it)

What you do get is a great landscape/portrait screen, lots of memory, a good graffiti anywhere function, a free dtg6 lisence, and a very pocketable form factor. While the cpu is faster, I personally, haven't noticed any visible speed difference.

As always, just my opinion

Don

Well, thanks going to buy the T3. Thanks. One person mentioned no back up. Isn't that a part of the OS and not Palm or Sony? Can't I just sync the T3 when I Hot Sync? Also if no back up isn't there back up programs out there?

When you HotSync, it does a very minimal backup. If you want a complete backup w/ the T|T3, get BackupBuddy from BlueNomad.

And, I don't recommend getting a SD card this moment because of the SD corruption problem. ANY SD card (including Panasonic) is suseptable to being corrupted by the T|T3's SD mouth...;)
