I have a new TJ25 (an upgrade from a dead N610c). When hotsyncing, it crashes and gives me a Fatal Exception message EVERY OTHER sync, requiring a soft reset. It is quite bizarre. It even does it if I "air" hotsync while not connected to the cradle, but only on alternate tries. Any thoughts to why this might happen or solutions? (Sony support was of absolutely no help). Thanks.

Did this start to happen after you installed some applications, or was it this way when factory fresh (e.g. after a hard reset)?

On my initial Hotysync, most of my programs were automatically re-installed from the databases, so i'm not sure if any particular program is causing the issue. Hackmaster and DALauncher were re-installed, but i removed them. I do have Megalauncher...i did re-install the Palm OS 5.0 version.
Is there a way to determine which program might be causing a conflict?

The best thing to do in a situation like this is to see if you have some incompatible apps with Palm OS 5.2.1. Also, there there may be some subtle changes in the Palm OS5 that may not be accounted for in your current versions that you had on your N610C. I would recommend starting from scratch and installing each app, one by one and hotsync'ing to see who is culprit.

Thanks. I will have to try deleting things one by one. If I find it, I'll re-post so others don't have to suffer. Wish there was some "error log" or something that could make it easier though!

Your best option for when you purchase an OS5 device and are upgrading from an OS4 device is to first ensure that none of the OS4 programs load up initially. You WILL get a conflict from something... I read a forum post here when I switched to OS5 that was greatly helpful.... it suggested that you first rename your backup file before hotsyncing... this will prevent the old programs from jamming up the system... it will initially only load your PIM files (address, calendar, todo, memo) .
Then you can load programs one at a time to see if any conflict. The hotsync issue that alternates is probably because your computer reloads the file you deleted from the handheld from your sony handheld's backup file (which automatically reinstalls after your device has a hard reset and re-syncs)... The exact procedure for renaming the backup file and other issues I found here at Cliesource after doing a search of all forums... It worked like a charm for me! (I had the same problem you did)
Good Luck

I found the "offending" program...MSMount had been re-installed on my new system (but didn't show up as a separate icon interestingly...found in the list of programs) even though the newer "Data Import" program is also there. Deleting MSMount fixed the problem. Thanks for everyone's help. Now i've gotta re-install all these dang programs....

Way to go. I am glad that it worked. I am going to be buying the new TJ35 soon and will be upgrading from my T665, so I will be in your shoes next. I hope my upgrade goes smoothly, too. I will post if I run into problems, but I hope not... 'cause I think I have learned from everyone.
