Have you had any specific problems with a specific one like a specific manufacturer's?
Thx.

I've seen another user that has 2 MS Pro which are totally the exact same size 256MB Pro sticks. But when used, both MS Pro sticks shows different usable volume. (even though they're both re-formatted) But it's a mere 2-8MB difference, not enough to ask sony to accept it back! :(

I have a 1GB lexar mspro running on my ux50.
Just to remind you, ALL memory sticks are made by Sony and branded as Sony, Lexar, SanDisk and any one else who pay.
My recommendation - Go for the cheaper and biggest you can find.

They are not all made by Sony. Sony licensed Samsung to manufacture MS and distribute as OEM to Lexar, SanDisk, etc. Also, the mem chip are not made by Sony. It's made by Samsung and other mem makers. If you have one of the MS with transparent housing (Lexar), you can see the mem chip.... Mine is stamped "Samsung".

Bottom line.....Sony gets a little piece of the pie for all MS sold.

I bought a SanDisk 512MB Memory Stick Pro and it would not work with my UX50. I went back to the store and the salesman tried it on other Clies and it worked fine. He also tried it on other UX50s and only the UX50's would NOT recognize the stick. After talking to Sony tech support, I tried putting the stick in and out several times until one time the unit recognized it, then I quickly reformatted the stick and now it recognizes it every time w/out a problem. For some reason, it appears that the Magicgate and other software on the Pro stick give problems if not on the original Sony format. I almost gave up trying to have my UX50 recognize the card, but after many tries it did just long enough for me to re-format.

A bit wrong.
Sony DOES manufacture all MS.
Memory chip itself is made by samsung, huyndai, kingston etc.
You can check it in the Card Info utility.
Each MS you'll stuck to the unit, will be recognize as Sony (even my 1gb lexar).
