I got a MS (add more to that PDA spending total :D ) and wanted to hotsync e-books directly to the MS. I see that there is an option when choosing locations to sync to but I can't pick it. Is there a conduit I have to open?

My stick is light translucent purple and has a light that flashes when data is being transferred. I got it through FutureShop.ca

Thanks for the info:)

You can change the target location in the Install tool. You don't need a conduit.
There is also the Option to run msimport and move the files to the stick.

That's the thing. I can't change the target location in the install tool and I"m wondering why not:(

You have several options. The most "automated" way is to save the ebooks into the directory that the install tool looks for (and saves to), which if you loaded the standard Sony/Palm desktop is probably

/Program Files/Sony Handheld/LG/CardInst/Slot-MemoryStick

You have to have OS4+ to do this.

You can also double-click on any ebook file and in the Install Tool screen click on "Change Destination..." button (if you have the appropriate version), and then manually change the destination to the memory stick. If you don't see a "Change Destination" button you don't have the current Palm Desktop/install tool (or you're <OS4).

But both of those only put the file in the /Palm/Launcher/ folder on the memory stick, which is fine, but gets messy if you've a bunch of ebooks. I use iSilo and Handstory for ebook readings, and both have unique folders on the memory stick. If you want the files in specific folders, then use MSImport and move the books to the memory stick via Windows Explorer. You can easily put them where you want and it's really fast.

Hope this helps!

You can't change the sync location on the MS for Hotsync install. It goes to the /Palm/Launcher/ directory. You can use MS Import to transfer stuff anywhere on the stick, and it's much faster.

You can also try PInstall...let's you install without going through the whole conduit thing.

PInstall rocks. I upload all my softwar and ebooks via this program. Don't have to wait for the lengthy Hotsync process just to install a couple of ebooks or try out a new program. And, it's free. Check it out.
