I did this last year and I think my favorite was MS Dict - this year I have switched to PocketLingo and like it much more due to several features.

OK. Here are my nominees for 2003:

ZLauncher - innovators, integrators, and great price too!

ShadowPlan - continued user support and new features added constantly, also great value for the price!

TiBr - best new doc reader category (I LOVE the fact they integrated ReadThemAll type scrolling, that totally sold me, multiple other options)

OK, these were are my personal favorites I guess

I am going to put a few more and we can vote

Sorry if your software didn't get a mention. Just list it in this thread.

I'm torn between AcidImage and Warfre Inc.

Shadowplan! Jeff has done a fantastic job with 3.0

Datebk5 is my runner up. The two of them together are unbeatable.

I voted for Agendus, but would add the game Tip Top to the list.

I love Z Launcher. It does a great job and has so many really neat features that allow one to customize. I love using the Quick Launcher in it.
Wordsmith is a good program too. It works great with my machines. (DTG latest version has not been doing well with my devices, so I got Wordsmith and it works great)

I had to pick one so I picked Datebook5 BUT I must say there are 3 programs I need on my Clie: ZLauncher, Datebook5 and Graffiti Anywhere. These are must haves but then I have my other frequently used favorites: Bubblet, Bookworm, TealPhone, Rescoe Viewer, PocketQuicken and Mobipocket.

Should probably allowed for more than one answer as these are all in different categories.

Dbk5, Warfare, ZLauncher, Uninstall Manager, DTG are my choices from the list. I didn't vote.

I did vote, but see Tixx's point about the categorical issue.
Some others I like besides ZLauncher and Wordsmith that I mentioned: Solitaires, Spellbound, Bookworm, Acid Image, Bowling Solitaire (a cute freeware game). Many others too, but these are the ones that come to mind off the top of my head.

Man, those were some tough choices! Theere were actually quite a few I would have picked. I had to choose between the two that I use the most:

1) DateBook5
2) DayNotez

DateBook took it only for the reason that (if I were forced to) I could use DateBook for both...:p

I had to vote for ZLauncher - the best app overall and certainly the best company. But, I would have cast a vote for Agendus in the "productivity" category, Aggression in the "games" category, etc. Picking just one is very hard!

voted for ZLauncher. It came from almost nowhere a year ago to become the dominant Palm OS launcher with a vast array of leading edge features. Also, a launcher is by default the most used app on a Palm device. I didn't even mention their customer service, which is unparalleled. I am a registered user of many of the other apps and they are certainly fine apps, but most are niche apps compared to ZLauncher and there is no comparison to the amount of progress that ZLauncher has made over the past year.

Isilo?

I have to say this is one app. that i would be very hard pressed to do without.

I do agree that the choices in the poll are very good programs( the ones i use anyway).

If i was to choose one i would choose datebook 5.

Peace,

David

thank for participation

Can you explain to me though why ISilo people refuse to fix the half-line error? you know, when the line is on one page and the next one. I know other readers allow you to manipulate the tightness of lines (line spacing, whatever the proper term for that option would be :)

Some good choices, but ZLaucher went from virtually nothing to THE dominant 3rd-party launcher this year. Not just a launcher, but with support for high density icons under OS 4, Power Run and McPhling capability, AND a full featured file manager built in. Datebk5 made some nice additions this year, but nothing came as far as fast as ZLauncher--not even close.

I don't think the "half-line error" is an error. HTML formatted text can't be fit as nicely to a screen as other text, since it can vary in height and line spacing.

In the obscure-but-keen category, I’ve played way too much AckWire and WordWiggle. Plucker and EasyCalc are definite entries into the “a free program can do that?” category. And yes, ZLauncher is very nice.

Agree with Tanker Bob . . . ZLauncher

I voted for WarFare for taking my NX-60 to its limit, but appreciate the continual refinement of ZLauncher. Hats off to both must have programs.

what happened to the apps that you just can't live without??..

not on the list but should me award goes to good old FileZ for POS5

DanT

ZLauncher takes care of that. It has FileZ-like file-manager builtin.

Well, so far the results of the poll show that among those applications selected for the poll ZLauncher is the definite leader followed by Warfare Inc.

Too Bad that ZLauncher wasn't graded as high as the other Palm OS launchers by the recent Pen Computing magazine (or was is Handheld World). I leafed thru it at Borders the other day and found the ZL review that I thought was very unfair especially in comparison to their other launchers' reviews. You can make the screen as cluttered or simple as you like. Tons of options. The reviewer should have given it a longer look just like one would with Datebk5, ShadowPlan or Teallock - the other "complicated" to use programs

And then there are one or two people here who believe that Handheld Computing article is fair.

Mine goes to Uninstall Manager. Just need to purchase this, and basicallly all trial programs can be used forever, hehe. Just have to delete off the saved preferences. Good for people on a low budget. :)

I voted for Warfare. While I don't play it much, I find it to be amazing considering the quality and effort that went into it.

I don't have as much time as I used to, so the poll helped greatly in singling out the two downloads I need to concentrate on, Thanks all.

Wordsmith is great, but it's beginning to show signs of age...

Well, some places still use Word Perfect :)

Well, Wordsmith is nice and I don't want to buy Docs to Go yet. I do like the ability to have native doc files though.
