I'm trying to upload the first part of Fullmetal Panic? Fumoffu (episodes 1 and 2 in one file), but it's going terribly slow... Don't know if it'll make it or not. It may take too long for me to let it finish though...

This is my first mqv that I converted. The quality is "normal" so some of the faster moving parts are lower in quality. The "high" quality version turned out to be ~80MB, and my memory stick is too full to fit that..

I doubt that I'll convert the rest of the series though...

I got my original files from http://www.animesuki.com (yes, it's an anime.) I got the AnimeFactory & Anime-Fansubs version.

EDIT: Argh! The connection timed out! What should I do....:(

I tried to convert some MPEG video with Image Converter, it tured out that it only converted part of the video.Only about 50sec of the video has converted and transfered to my MS(the video is orginally about 30mins):confused: :(

RcxAsh, I have found that filezillas resume functions are absolutly indespensible, if your not already using that I'd give it a try. {thanks to the person who posted it earlier}

Anti, what I do is i convert the files straight to the hard drive. It seems to be much quicker and more stable than converting it right into the memory stick.

Do you have enough room on your memory stick? When I converted a 20min video on high quality, the file was about 80MB. Normal quality turned out to be about 40MB. Check what quality you're converting too and make sure you have enough room... just a guess.

Thanks for the tip. However, I'm in Linux right now, so I can't try it out till I get back into windows later... Also, does anyone notice it being really slow? I tried to download one of the animatrixes, but it only got about 4MB in an hour or so, and then it didn't seem to be doing anything else, so I killed the transfer only to receive a connection timed out message.

Hey everyone

Im heading down to Japantown this morning to grab some anime. I took a look at some of the video run times and X is about an hour an episode so that will take awhile to do a copy and convert for gMovie(if I have time during the copy to my PC Ill grab ImageConvertor. I may also pickup some Onegai Teacher(I only know the japanese name) and Love Hina. I also have some Ranma that I can copy. When I said I was going to copy Bebop the movie I was referring to indiviual fight scenes,unless you all want the entire thing

hey guys! okay, it was a very long and frustrating process but i got some new Naruto episodes to share. *:( although i still have that same problem with VirutalDub*. episodes 25-31 now available for uploading.

Yah, their length varies. Some episodes last 20 min, some last 10. I don't know why... Perhaps I should have used the term "part" instead of "episode."
The page where I got the parts from is http://animesuki.com/series.php/231.html. There, it says, Episodes: 11 episodes (15 Parts)
However, the parts don't always have anything to do with each other.

It's the server space needed to store it all that's the issue. I uploaded 1.6G of files, all of which are also gone. That's the problem with giving everyone Read/Write/Delete access, someone is going to take the micky!

"Making" a new FTP server requires Hardware, access, bandwidth and the storage.

All of which cost $$$.

This server just was setup with ill-advised permissions.

In reality, all you need to setup an FTP server is a computer that you don't mind leaving on and connected to the internet for as long as you want the FTP server available, for example, 24/7. Servers are simply computers that have server software running on them (ie a webserver, mail server, ftp server). The difference is that you'd probably want a very computer with more RAM and disk space than you'd find in an average desktop computer. In addition, a respectable internet connection speed would probably be a good idea.

I have a few suggestion like uploading BT instead of full files, uploading movies instead of trailers, putting some more variety of music instead of just the ones you like and make a forum so people can request or post BTs.

As an addition to my last post, I have also set the ftp site now to only allow 1 thread per ip address, it seems some folks were using multiple threads to download multiple files at once. this should make it more fair for others.

I really never though that this ftp site would have this much interest, but it has been maxed out on bandwith 24/7 since a week after launch :)

technical notes... for you folks downloading max speed is 384k, upload speed is maxed at 1.5mbits. this is of course shared among all users... And space is not an issue as there is still 45gigs free..

Ive taken the liberty of reuploading naruto 1-31 for anyody that didnt get a chance to see it, i'll upload hellsing when thats done, then X when thats done,

45 gigs wont hold lol with all the stuff i have, I have well over 9 gigs in simpsons,futurama, and family guy episodes alone.

Ugh it cut me off in the middle of an uplaod and there are a bunch of incomplete files i cant get rid of =(. you need to change it so i can upload more than one at a time, this is totally uneffecient.

search the net for either cute ftp or leech ftp, both are great, if your using internet explorer to get the files you will get very bad results, using a good ftp client, you can queue up alot of files and go to bed, it will retry all disconnects

I can certainly do that, what did you have in mind? I imagine if i switched over to a separate account for every user that i would get flooded with requests. and i would be making alot of accounts.

Perhaps you could just pick a few trusted people to help you "moderate" the files. So if someone has incomplete uploaded files that they want to delete, or anything else for that matter, they won't have to bug you all the time.

Some of the folk are using the internet explorer i think, its basically asking for trouble if you use the ftp site that way, a good ftp client will make everything easier, just queue up the files you want and they get uploaded, even if there is a disconnect it resumes wheres it left off. its very painless with a good ftp client.

I appologize to the folks that saw all their hard work get deleted, currently there are only 3 people with delete permission, so it shouldn't happen again, unless one of the moderators decides to go crazy :)

But basically with a good ftp client you select all the files u want to upload and they upload on there own. its very easy no matter how many files you have.

so to some this up, dont use internet explorer, it sucks at ftp. get a good ftp client, learn it and you will be happy :)

Honestly, you'll get better download speed off my server I believe. (over 200kb/s at times)

ncoday - I pull 300KB/s off of your server no problem. It is nice. I haven't tried pulling more than one file at a time though, but I might try that later to see total bandwidth.

I'm in the process of converting some misc. video files I have laying around on my HDD. I've uploaded all of the older files I got from the FTP from a long time ago, so unless someone uploads the more recent stuff that was deleted it might not return... Since the new bit of security implemented I don't think there is much to worry about rampant deleting.

Uploaded another BMX Trix video. Not the next in the series though. It is still very painful to convert them... Also added a music video as done by other people. It falls between music video and funny...

but just one question, how would you log in to the FTP server identifying yourself as a moderator? don't you only need the IP (24.34.89.44), the username and password (clie) to login?

but just one question, how would you log in to the FTP server identifying yourself as a moderator? don't you only need the IP (24.34.89.44), the username and password (clie) to login?

I don't have experience with ftp and just used the browser method. I started 4 downloads as I left work for home so they would be done in the morning.

No harm done, you'll find that with an ftp client it will be much easier, you can tag as many files as you want and they download one at a time and even resure if it disconnects, just queue it up and go to bed :)

Are my gMovie versions of the Initial D Movie clips still there? Cause my converted files got destroyed on my hard disk and Ill have to reconvert them all over again...

Also are the Acura clips still on the server? Those are actually my originals

Let me know which ones to convert. I think Gigapocket allows conversion to MQV but Im not really sure. I may just run the conversion the gMovie anyway.

Several problems... I tried downloading an ep of Battlestar Galactica; it was so dreadfully slow I gave up. So I tried to upload a short (5 minute, 8MB) video snippet from Car & Driver TV on the Cadillac XLR; gave up after several minutes suffering throughput akin to an older (19Kbps) modem! And I have a fast synchronous line!

Don't forget that everyone shares the FTP server's bandwidth. If more than one person is downloading and/or uploading at the same time, it's bound to be a little slow.

My ftp only allow 1 connection at a time for bandwidth reasons, so you have to set leech to use only one thread, once u queue everything up, just right click on the active thread that is running and choose cancel, then everything queued will go..

I'm using core FTP light it's a free one and I finally got it to work by doing as prompted in an eearlier post, just putting the ip address minus the 'ftp.' and the username clie and password clie all lower case and it works fine now, although the first two files I downloaded were both currupt.

Seriously, FTP support is built into most web browsers, it's built into most contemporary operating systems, it's supported at the command-line by every Windows version for like the past 8 years, it's supported by zillions of easy-to-use applications for automating it, and it's built into the File Explorer in Windows. It's hard to conceive of anything easier that still has even a modicum of security.

Ok just tell me if I am nuts but I have been having trouble making a second internet connection like upgrades and musicmatch connections via road runner cable connection ever since I tried the whole FTP thing. Is it me or is there any internet settings that could be affected by the movie sharing thing that could then affect music software such as sonicstage, musicmacth when they try to connect they say it appears you are not connected to the internet check you connection? I am currently viewing them from the MS, though I would prefer those to run directly from the CF.

How do I produce such movies myself?

I had absolutely no problem getting on the FTP site and i downloaded 2 of the funny video's. But whenever i put them on my memory stick, my clie doesnt even recognize they exist. I tried putting them on the internal media and same problem although they are in the same directory with my other movies that i recorded and have .MQV format. I am using the original movie player that came with my UX50. Should i get another one.

What's the point of having all those videos in the funny commericials folder, when you have no idea what they are?

Could whoever uploaded them, please rename them something other than MOV00001.MQV MOV00002.MQV, etc.? :) Would make it a TAD easier to tell what the heck they are before we invest the time in downloading something we later find out we don't want. :)

All you have to do if you want them to play on your Clie after you download them is just rename them back to MOV00001 or whatever.

I have scarface, badboys 2, friday, IN living color episodes, american history x, How high, and a whole bunch of other movies.
