I saw unbelievable prices at tigerdirect.com, but I'm wondering if it is safe or not. Has anyone bought anything from there before? There sound is too good to be true.

Any reply will be appreicated.

Note: I want to buy their Toshiba e740 for $349.99.

I've purchased a motherboard and processor combo at Tiger Direct. Got exactly what I ordered and had no problems. The E740 you're looking at is refurbished (recert). Their price seems to be withhin the price range for a refurbished unit. There is also a rebate coupon for the unit which will get you a $100 cash rebate or an accessory pack.

There was an article on one of the computer sites I was reading yesterday and it compared several places like that. I don't remember the details, but if you search zdnet and PCmag sites you'll find it. Also there is always bizrate.com.

I got a Nikon Camera from TigerDirect. They deal in gray market goods, that's the main reason for such great prices.

TigerDirect's shipping tends to be very expensive.  Also, Heaven help you if the item doesn't work.  They won't take it back unless you have a case number from the manufacturer, and getting one of those can be a real pain.

Also, they never, never, NEVER take back processors for refund--exchange only.

Otherwise, it's not a bad company.

I have purchased from them before with no problem. However, I agree with ernieB that after you add shipping to the cost, you can usually find most of what you want elsewhere for less....

Yes, I have bought from Tiger Direct many times and have had nothing but satisfaction. I got my Clie T-415 from them for 99.00 plus 8.00 for second day shipping. (I should have thought about that when I ordered on a Friday, it came on Tuesday). I have been buying from Tiger for about 5 years. I used to run a small computer business (had to retire because I worked full time elsewhere and ended up getting too busy with my computer business) and bought most of my components from Tiger to build systems with. After several dozen computers built with mostly components bought from Tiger, I have had very few problems.
Yes, their shipping can be a bit high, especially for larger items, but that also depends on where you live. I am in Tennessee and most of the stuff I order comes from Naperville Illinois, so shipping is mostly low and quick.
Also, you are better off by ordering online att heir website (secure ordering) because their phone people work on commission and can be a bit pushy about "extras". Give them a try, I'm sure you will be happy.
BTW, My Clie was a refurb, but there was no indication that it was ever touched. Came neatly wrapped and has been working fine.

Best of luck,

David

I bought a Nikon camera from Tiger Direct and it was not gray market. I think your statement (with all due respect) can be a bit misleading.

Also, I have had on occasion to return a motherboard and a processor that was DOA, and they took it back without a complaint. In fact, they overnighted me a new one before I sent the defective one back. They included a Airborne prepaid call tag and did not charge shipping.

just a little more objective input

David:)

I have never had any problems with TigerDirect, but if you go to ResellerRatings.com (http://www.resellerratings.com/seller1983.html) you will see that they are rated real bad. It seems if you you don't get a defective product, you're fine. But if something goes wrong with your order, you're in trouble.
