View Full Version : You should all get the CIA factbook - free on memoware.com
available for ISilo, Plucker, or PalmReader - has hi-res pictures and all. The version for Plucker is better in my opinion and smaller (not the content, the compression).
The stats and MAPS on all countries are great and quite thorough. I am so glad I can carry this with me 24/7 and when I need a quick check when informing someone/arguing with someone. I have that info available to me within seconds :D Lovin' it!

Expect it to be a big file because it's a large book
Update:
Just noticed that they have a newer (2003) version of the CIA factbook. The only downside is it's only available for PalmReader right now
I am downloading this myself right now. Another minus is that it's over 4 MB, for Plucker it was only 2 something MB due to Plucker's better conmpression.
here's the info from Amazon:

I can't believe I am getting this for free!
The online version indicates that the 2003 version is indeed the latest (July 2003)

I have and use the ISilo version. The PalmReader version took a long time to open (on my T615). Haven't tried the 2003 version, tho.

Geez, y'all, of course you get it for free. It's always been free. You can get the source for their two books at their web sitehttp://www.cia.gov/cia/download.html and then Plucker them if that's what you want.

You could make the finished file a bit smaller by specifying to Plucker desktop to resize the images if they are over a certain file size (by either reducing their dimensions or colour depth).
The file that was posted only included thumbnails of all the images, especially the maps. That is why it is only about 2MB.
FWIW, I did a dump of the site myself and wound up with a file about 6.8MB but that included all the maps at full resolution.
