ok, I've read the threads about loading apps on the internal media on the ux in the AliasExt folder, but I have a couple of questions. first, is it just the main application files that are supposed to be moved there?? for example, I'd like to move snappermail to the internal media, but there are a bunch of supporting files, I'm guessing for accounts, preferences, storing mail, etc... now are these supporting files supposed to stay in ram and the program on the internal media will still find them?? or do I move them ALL to the internal media?? sorry for the dumb question, but I've always loaded stuff in ram on all my previous palm / clies...

also, are there any apps that are a definite no no to put into the internal media??

apps I plan to move after I know what the heck I'm doing: acrobat reader, apcalc, docs to go 6, pocket quicken, aim, smbmate, snappermail, win-hand, puzzle bobble, filez, codediver....

any help would be appreciated!!

Basically it functions mostly like PowerRUN (if you don't know what it is, check the original thread). If an app works with PowerRUN, it would most likely works in AliasExt.

Just couple notes for you, if you want to move database to Internal Media along with the app, you need to create it own folder (/Palm/Programs/AliasExt/AppFolder/) and put everything in that folder. Also, any apps that work in background (like McPhliing, etc) will not work in Internal Media.

thanx for the reply!! ok, downloaded filez and I guess it's time to give it a whirl... I'm wondering about all of these "a68k" files though... sometimes hard to tell which files are associated with which programs. I guess as long as nothing is deleted, I suppose it won't hurt anything to try, thanx!!

use the backup feature if you feel like you might mess something up ;)

already have... messed things up that is!!! first app I tried this with was acrobat reader since I was 50/50 on keeping it on the ux anyways (picsel viewer does a nice job viewing pdf's)... the reader was recognized and launched ok. opened up a document just fine, but then the ux froze. it was either exiting the document view or exiting the app, can't remember for sure what I was doing at the time...

anyways, after trying to move the files back to ram, there were 2 adobe icons in the launcher and a jumble of files I didn't know were associated with the right one!! needless to say, acrobat and that blasted printme is now uninstalled... well, I guess I choked on my first try, but I think some other ones will work out ok hopefully.... I've got everything else working on the ux that I wanted to, I'm not gonna let this little set-back stop me!!! thanx!!!

Backups are critical if you are going to do something challenging! :D
& nice positive spirit going there with the "set-back"!

I think we might need a list of apps that does work in AliasExt. :p
Personally I've got most applications in "internal Media" already, even had ZLauncher.prc in AliasExt folder, & working fine, just time consuming each time UX tries to pull out ZLauncher from "internal Media", so I pulled it back into RAM. Also it's less energy drainning since ZLauncher is always running on the background. (Well, set as my default launcher.) :)

I think it might be easier to just list what doesn't work in AliasExt.

I want a launcher that has the navigation on SONYs 3D launcher with support for background pictures... and hide the icons when nothings happening..
