Greetings:
Have been checking out PiDirectII and PowerRUN on my 615 with a 128MS and I have a few questions regarding these 2 apps...
First, I think I understand the basic difference in the way Pi and PR work...when launching apps moved into MS via PR, PR copies the entire app back over into RAM before launching. This results in an inevitable delay time before the app in MS launches. PiDirect however only copies over enough of the app into RAM that is needed before launching, therefore significantly cutting down the time delay before the app starts. Is this correct? Also, as I understand it, PiDirect is supposed to best work with non-editable dbs.
Well, in my decidedly non-scientific experiments, PiDirect seems to do everything that PR does, but better [faster]. Am I crazy?
Basically on my PDA, I have loaded up almost all of 75+games on the MS, along with big stuff like MS-Dictionary, Zagat Surveys and Kinoma Video files.
Originally, i had moved those games to MS via PR, but after I discovered PiDirect, I tried moved a couple of games back to RAM and then moved them back with PiDirect. I was very surprised by the increased performance I got using PiDirect. Again, am I crazy? Is this an OK way to use PiDirect? The games all seem to work fine.
Can someone here please help explain in a bit more detail the fine distinctions between PowerRUN and PiDirect? I would really appreciate it.
