I have missed, if this has been discussed already; my UX-50 is performing changing high whistling tone, when turn on. If I tap or slightly touch by fingers, it stops. Does anyone have the similar experience?

thanks. It is getting quite annoying, which is pitty, considering how great the device otherwise is.

ok, dann, that is too bad.
I bought it from SONY shop, so I will take it, bring it to them and try to get some reaction there.
I guess, that anyone with the same troubles should push SONY, so as they realize it might be something with those early UX-50.

The thing it, that I donīt even have to hold it so close; I am hearing it from normal distance, when working.

Well,
This is very confusing. Some people say that the noise is normal. Others think it is not.
Can Some one please inform us with more details?
Imame, What do you think? As you can see at the following thread that Sony thinks it is not normal. Mine does the same thing. Even though it is not bothering me, but it is good to know if the UX 50 is supposed to do this or not.

The noise doesn't seem to be consistent from unit to unit. I recently returned & re-purchased @ SonyStore in Ontario.
-Original unit (from pre-order) was quiet loud, and actually interrupted a meeting ("What's that sound. Is something wrong with the heating?" yikes).
-The new unit is much quieter, but sound is still there.

Whole process VERY frustrating, as 3 different SS had 3 different interpretations of "10 day on vaio, 30 day on other" return policy. And they wonder why they sell more units @ big-box stores than @ theirs.

does the noise stop if you turn the backlight off??.. if so then it will be the glass mebrane being vibrated when the LCD light is ativated....

...... this can sometime be resolved by just 'sqeezing' the screen gently alover until it is reseated.. howver if this doesn't work then it is a inperfection in the screen assembly or manufacturing process and you should get it replaced....

Seen it on other LCD and Plasma devices including TV's and remotes controls.....

I took my device today to the sony store where I had bought it and sony people had to admit that the noise was quite nasty, so I got replacement.
donīt hesitate to do the same, for this price it should be flawless.
