Anyone know when Sony willl produce a version of the Clie for the Road Warrior? This would include all that the NX80 or UX50 has, but with (at the least) Blackberry or preferrably built-in mobile capabilities. Enough of the BT or WiFi stuff ............. kids-plays. Let's get serious.

I am a road warrior and I use UX50. It satisfied all my communication need via wifi or BT enable GPRS phone.

I've been asking the same question for some time. If Sony Clie won't reach true wireless e-mail some time soon I'll just have to try the new Treo 600 series. Already available with Sprint, but I prefer ATT. The wait continues. Sony seems to be positioning the Clie series for high end fun / play, not the serious business traveller.

Sony wants you to buy a SE phone. Trust me.
Personally I think that is best because then you can personally upgrade your PDA anytime without hassling with a service provider.
Plus, you could use a laptop instead of a pda if you really wanted to...

Other manufacturer are finally starting to get the picture and are producing the combo. Sony will too when they start to lose the serious business person. Such a natural combination, technology is there, convenience would be phenomenal.

Many of us are forced into that situation ............. glad it works for you. I find it rather silly that I have to place my phone near my PDA to access cellular functions. Especially when the technology exists to put them together.
BTW ....... adding the mobile functionality would not mean many (if any) of us would get rid of our phones. And, AGAIN, let me repeat ........ I am only asking them to devote one model to this concept. Its obvious that not everyone wants this type of combo.

Sony may WANT me to buy a SE phone ......... what they get is me moving to a competitor.
Upgrade my PDA? There is nothing on the horizon (unless you tell me they are coming out with a PDA + phone) that I would upgrade to. A better camera? Better MP3 player? Bigger (UX50)? No to all three. Only if my NX70 dies on me.
I all ready use a laptop, as well. What does that have to do with using a PDA?

How far away is your phone typically? Mine is always on my belt clip or in my pocket in case I, you know, get a call. ;)
Personally, I like devices that do what they do well, and I haven't yet encountered a really good PDA/phone combination yet with something compact enough to be a comfortable and conveniently-portable phone but with the screen size and resolution needed for an acceptable web browser. The only one that I've seen the genuinely comes closest to all my phone needs is the SE P800/P900. It's small enough, has Bluetooth (a requirement for my laptop) and you can install a respectable web browser on it. My NZ has 3x the screen size and 2x the resolution, though.
I would think that the main thing that prevents Sony from bringing a true PDA/phone to the market is its Sony Ericsson joint venture. There might be some language preventing Sony's PDA devision from directly competing with SE. I don't see anyone else getting into the Blackberry business if the RIM vs NTP decision is upheld.
